Talk to the guys at BavarianAuto and check out the Cool Carbons. They really are a very capable pad and you won't be disappointed.

I use the HP+s on the rear so I don't need to change them for street use. HT-10's are good for the front. I will be trying DTC 70's this weekend I think they have better stoping power. I also use HP+'s on the front for street use.

I'm not a Hawk hawker so I'm not biased here but that comment is a bit short sighted. You're referencing one compound that you found didn't work for you in that application. I may be out of the loop a bit on their pads but I'm pretty sure there are still a lot more options.

'Hawking' the Wilwood line I stock about NINE compounds for a lot of the calipers and that's not even everything that I could just from them. Finding the right compound for one's personal taste can take a couple of tries. Working with someone who knows pads can help you narrow down the options a bit quicker with experience and knowledge.

And I've always said that any pad pedaler who tells you that their "Hyper Stopper" pad does it all; street, track etc....politely hang up the phone and call someone else!

Yes, they have other possibly better compounds. No, I'm not short sighted.

Background: SCCA Event. Guy from Hawk tells me that HPS pads will work great for street and the occasional AutoX. They will be "Way better than your OEM pads. It will be day and night." So I spend the extra $$$ on HPS pads. I follow the bed-in procedure. They aren't any different than my OEM pads. I call Hawk to complain. They tell me that its my fault for not buying new slotted rotors. Then tell me I didn't bed them in properly. Then they tell me I need steel braided brake lines. Of course it couldn' be that the pad isn't as good as they said it is. It must be my fault.

It was my fault. I let myself get taken by some crappy sales guy. Caveat Emptor.

Guess what? Even if Hawk does have great pads, I'm never buying thier product again because I don't like thier company.

The other brake-pad companies I've dealt with have lived up to thier promises and have provided either myself or someone I know with great customer service as well. So I reccomend them instead.

Conclusion: HP+ Pads or one of thier serious race compounds are probably great pads. It doesn't matter and I will steer people away from them because of the crummy way they treated me.

I call Todd TCE with any and all brake questions. He knows brakes and will get you in the right brake/pad for your needs. He will even talk you out of spending more if he doesn't feel it is worth it. He is not a sponsor of mine, just a straight shooter.
