I put an Alta Sportone (single-sided exhaust) on my first R53 and had all sorts of problems wearing out the stock rubber mounts that this bracket goes into. It just isn't made to support the unbalanced side-to-side swing. I would replace the rear rubber mounts once a year. I wound up adding some lateral support somehow... Something rigged together like 4-5 loops of duct tape, to help prevent side-to-side swinging. I never had an issue w/ the metal bracket.

I had my R53 about 10 years before I put an aftermarket exhaust on it. I never had a problem with the bracket. Maybe replace the exhaust with a nice sounding cat back, no more bracket problem.
Although it will be a little more money.
