I know of one, here in KC. The number I've heard is 50 total in the US. don't know if that's right tho…..
Thanks Dave! I had heard the number was very low. A few years ago I saw one for sale I wish I had bought it, it would be a unique Mini to have.
Come to think of it, I have never seen one whenever I am visiting the USA. However, there are a couple in the Vancouver BC area.
Those would be great in city's for delivery vehicles. I'll be in London next week for work... have to keep my eye out and look for those.
That’s what they were intended for but because they were a utility vehicle they were slapped with a very high importation tax.
Really... the rules are crazy. I was talking with a buddy of mine at the BMW dealership... asking why the prices on old parts went up so much (a few years ago parts almost doubled and getting Euro parts here became an issue. He said it was due to a law (both EU and US) that was enacted... for example they can sell me just material... as that’s not a car part, it’s textile. Interesting for sure..
I really don't see much of a difference between it and a Clubman with the side windows covered in opaque white "sunroof styled" material.
It's not a lot different like @Minidave said there is no back seat and a cage behind the front seat so nothing flys up and hits the driver.
The back seats can be removed and a protective cage/screen installed into a base Clubman with opaque white [or whatever color is desired] over the rear windows.
Yes, and if BMW/Mini had known about the tax they could have shipped them with a back seat then at the port removed it and added the screen. Then they would not have been hit with the tax.
Heck I've always liked panel trucks & the clubvanster trucklet looks great to this old guy. I figured with the help of Steven at eMINIparts I could convert Babs clubster into one. Only trouble being Babs said NO!
