By default you are not subscribed to a thread, you have to choose that option. In the header at the top of thread you will find Thread Tools, click on the little drop down arrow and select Subscribe to this Thread.
... and, pick "Quick Links"... "Edit Options"... and change your Default Thread Subscription option...
aaAAAAAh - so THAT's where that option is! It ays "no email notification" but doesn't say "subscribe, no email notification". I was looking all over for that option... Got it. Thanks guys.
