Not near a computer to confirm, but seem to recall that Michelin Pilot Super Sports were less expensive the last time I priced tires. I do know that the Michelins have a 30K mile warranty. Don't believe the Dunlops do.

    Those just look FUN...

I've been told by a birdy from the Akron area that they are awesome in the dry, acceptable in the damp and well, "interesting" in the wet.

Nathan just buy what you know since you made a set of Star Specs last 4 years. I mean that's 2 years longer than me and we both drive about the same amount a year and really push the tires at the Dragon.

If you prioritize dry weather handling over anything else, here is a good summary of the current Extreme Performance Summer Tires.

Direzza ZII vs Direzza ZII Star Spec

I know the Star Spec seems to be better, but it is also more expensive. Im saving about 100 going with the ZII.
How much more significant are the Star Spec. I "might" be doing auto crossing. But i do drive spirited :)
    Opinions?

ZII are just last years (2014) tire and the Star Spec ZII's are the 2015 version. Not much difference but a little improved grip for an already very good gripping tire.

The original Dunlop Autocross tire was just called "Star Specs" until the ZII's were released 2 years ago.

You can not go wrong with either one.

anyone care to comment on 215/40/r17 vs 215/45/r17 ? our R53 is on stock R90 17x7 wheels

if 45's wont rub I'm also considering bridgestone re-71r

If your car is at stock height, go with the 45's.

Welp, since I didn't need new tires this past summer I'll now be looking to spring to replace the summer tires. We'll see what's on the market come March.

Nathan, kinda a reverse blessing to that statement. Should be some new rubber next spring, perhaps another set of custom wheels. :)
