The sunroof is a bloody fickle
mechanism if you ask me.
The sensor to stop it if it meets
some resistance (a safety feature
and motor protection feature)
is too sensitive if you ask me.
I really don’t use mine anymore,
and when I did, I would never open
it within several hours of possible
rain, or when I didn’t have time to
manually close it with an Allen tool
and repeatedly work on re-initializing
it, in case it would act up again,
which it would always eventually do.
Cleaning and lubricating the tracks
does help a little bit for a little while.
Replacing the whole shebang is
pretty damn expensive, too.

I liked my sunroof when I got my car but, now I wish I had a slick top “no sunroof” because of the weight savings.
I am still considering having my roof Re-skinned with a slick top at a body shop as the roof and headliner is not that expensive.
I have never had a problem at all with my sunroof.-
