    tks for the post

Hi, I have a 2005 MINI Cooper S stock, noise from under the hood, worried that the supercharge might be dry w/90k - purchased at 67k miles- I did some research and learned of the undocumented oil service. Though it might be some other noise... It's nice to the post live - the pictures a really nice and helpful. I'll get back to the post when I get started - maybe this winter. tks. Tim

No Sprintex. They run hot and have been known to blow engines up

If the sound goes away when the clutch is disengaged then this jingling is coming from the transmission not the SC or the belt or the tensioner, etc. Fluids like the OEM MTF-94 or Redline MTL are relatively thin (i.e. 75W80) and can cause some transmissions to be noisy, this is normal. It can be remedied by simply changing out the lube with fresh, if what you have in there is old, or by replacement with a heavier weight gear lube something like 75W140, this will 'cure' the transmission jingling. I am presently running RP Max Perf Gear Lube and it keeps my tranny quiet.
We have other threads with more discussion on this topic.
    Back to SC oil servicing.......

No worries. That topic just tends to get folks fired up around here and has gotten other threads locked.

So here is a question. I recently refreshed my supercharger. I removed both ends to find good gears.

What are some of you using to reseal the supercharger. I used the same sealer that Eaton uses. Its an anaerobic sealer, same used to seal the two half's of the gearbox.

The recommendation that I received (khuevo, I think) when I was planning the work is to NOT crack the ends open unless you really need to. With a bit of peering around, you can see the gears through the fill/drain holes and unless metal dust comes out instead of oil, you really don't need to open the ends.

You get a better clean-out by removing the ends, but that's why I bought an extra bottle of new oil... I did several 'rinse' steps after emptying the old oil, adding clean, spinning the charger shaft and rotating the entire supercharger in every direction, draining, then repeating. After 2 or 3 rinses, the oil coming out looked like the oil going in, so I called it good and refilled to the end-state level.

No way that would work for me..........I would keep hitting my fat head on it every time I got into the engine bay...:D I would love to have a multi-led light setup that was able to attach to the underside of the bonnet to really light it up. Hmmmm.....good idea!

Good luck with the servicing Tim, nice pic's.
