No worries. That topic just tends to get folks fired up around here and has gotten other threads locked.

So here is a question. I recently refreshed my supercharger. I removed both ends to find good gears.

What are some of you using to reseal the supercharger. I used the same sealer that Eaton uses. Its an anaerobic sealer, same used to seal the two half's of the gearbox.

The recommendation that I received (khuevo, I think) when I was planning the work is to NOT crack the ends open unless you really need to. With a bit of peering around, you can see the gears through the fill/drain holes and unless metal dust comes out instead of oil, you really don't need to open the ends.

You get a better clean-out by removing the ends, but that's why I bought an extra bottle of new oil... I did several 'rinse' steps after emptying the old oil, adding clean, spinning the charger shaft and rotating the entire supercharger in every direction, draining, then repeating. After 2 or 3 rinses, the oil coming out looked like the oil going in, so I called it good and refilled to the end-state level.

No way that would work for me..........I would keep hitting my fat head on it every time I got into the engine bay...:D I would love to have a multi-led light setup that was able to attach to the underside of the bonnet to really light it up. Hmmmm.....good idea!

Good luck with the servicing Tim, nice pic's.

Just FYI and it may not apply to this car but for that odd rattle and before you pull out a SC make sure your alternator does not have a cracked housing.

I thought I had the death rattle starting in my SC and it turned out that it was the alternator this past Spring before the Dragon.
