I haven't used Swirl yet and was going to try it out this weekend.

I've read volumes of MINI stuff and just want to make sure I got my methods straight

For Swirl- Shake Often-Apply in 2' X 2' Squares-Work each section with PC/Buffer for 5 min and remove any excess with a MF cloth. Correct?

That's basically it. You want to use a medium-firm medium-aggressive pad like the DP orange pad. I typically do somewhat smaller sections (12-18" square typically), but "square" areas are hard to find on a MINI... so I do about half a panel at a time. I don't do it by time, I do it by consistency. When the polish is basically dry and translucent (no longer opaque white) I know it's broken down and done. I think this normally takes me only a couple of minutes per section.

The best thing is to pick a swirly area, tape down a MF towel, and do a test section to get a feel for it and to determine how much is enough... when done, remove the towel and compare side by side the before and after. If you still have swirls on the "after" side, you may need to do a second pass.

Oh... and DO TAPE YOUR TRIM. I had previously, and didn't last time, and polish is a stone biotch to get off.

By "trim" you mean bonnet striping, rubber trim, wheel arches. chrome, etc?

    Regular Blue Painters trim tape?

Black plastic trim (wheel arches, side skirts, etc.) and rubber trim adjacent to paint.

Yep - blue painters tape works fine. Best to overlap the paint by about 1/8" or so... this keeps from getting polish in the gaps. You won't notice 1/8" of unpolished area.

if getting Epic off MINI black trim is any lesson I'll do it!

    holy crap!

I'm a certifiable OCDer but taking isopropal alcohol and a toothbrush to get rid of wax/polish is just plain nuts! Whats the other one-Peanut Oil? jeeesh I need to get a life ;)

Black Wow will cover polish - for a while. And it will remove some of it with a WHOLE lot of scrubbing. Epic/Wax/Sealant stains come off with isopropyl and some scrubbing... but polish stains have been much harder to deal with in my experience - it gets "ground into" the plastic... sortof....

Not Black Wow but the new Blow Wow Cleaner stuff.

I guess Richard has yet to post that on his site. He sent me 2 big bottles of it as we were going to review it for the magazine on "that other site" We never did get a chance to test it before the plug was pulled. I did use some and darn, that stuff works...

Now that's just plain wrong. Not necessarily the fact you got some pre-released PreWow - the fact that you're bragging about it. Stop it! I can't hear you nananananana. Jerk!
(can you send a little our way I'll pay shipping)

I want some too, there's a few spots on my trim that need some deep-cleaning.
