So I was doing good on wedsday getting ready to install my lsd and new clutch and flywheel, and then I got a kick between the legs, the shifting forks inside my transmission were broken !! :cryin: So I was thinking this is just great, bmw doesnt sell replacment parts for these transmission, now I have to get a new one. Well I made a call to one of the vendors on here and they are going to see if they have some shifting forks that are good out of another transmission that lost its diff, so I am crossing my fingers. Untill then I am removing everything from the trans, I am at a good point but had to stop because I dont have my good set of snap ring pliers here. Here is a pic of trans.

So, what symptoms did you notice with that broken shifting fork? The tear down was for the LSD right, well clutch too?

Seriously there were no symptoms, there was enough fork there for it to shift, but yes was just doing the lsd and I am glad I found it

Forgive the ignorance. The forks are the two yellow arrows?

    Well that certainly sucks.

Were any of your teeth chipped, and did you find the missin pieces from the forks ?

How many miles are/were on your car ?

Definitely good that you found it, get those extra chunks out of the tranny and good luck on finding the replacement bits.

Oh, and what LSD/clutch/flywheel did you go with?

Yes the yellow arrows are were the part of the fork broke off, I did find the broken parts, one of them was lying in the bottom , that is on of the arrows, the other is still in its retaining ring, I cant believe it, that it shifted with no problems didnt even hear a rattle. The car has 60,000on it and when I take it all apart monday I will post more pics. Also the gears are good and I am running the quaife lsd and Act clutch, flywheel

It has been explained to me that the getrag 6 speed is the same as the ford getrag. You might have some luck looking thru the ford parts to find what you need vs. trying mini. Those parts may not be the same but might be worth a look.

Thats the thing ford and mini do not sale internal parts for the trans, other than the lsd. I think I might be good on the parts I need, a good vendor on here is checking some of his stuff for me. It drive me crazy that they do not sale any parts though, even ford ?

I think it has more to do with Getrag then Ford or MINI. It is very sad though, not even a basic rebuild kit is available.

Which vendor is helping you ?

A local gear shop says they can locate replacement parts. When the time comes, find a shop in your area that specializes in manual transmissions.

Ok just a small update, I found all of the bearings that are needed to do the rebuild, so that was too easy. I will post all the part numbers in the how to when I am done.
