(Montréal, Québec) –Team Octane will head back to the province of Québec this weekend, for the 43rd edition of the historical Grand-Prix de Trois-Rivières. During the last event, Team Octane continued their domination of the Mosport track in the Touring class of the Canadian Touring Car Championship presented by Continental. With 2 unexpected wins at Mosport in the first events of the year (Thomson and Sallenbach), Team Octane repeated their feat of winning the 2 weekend events with this time Alain Lauzière at the wheel of their newest #45 turbo entry who managed to capture the top podium position after championship-contender and team-mate Michel Sallenbach qualified his car in pole-position, at the wheel of his MINI GENUINE PARTS #46 Cooper S JCW. Sallenbach, who leads the championship standings, will head the team efforts this weekend at GP3R after a trying weekend at Mosport. The Clinique du Pneu driver captured a fifth position two weekends ago during event #9 at Mosport right behind his teammate P.J. Groenke in his Verax.ca/Tundra Cooper s JCW, But it was also a disappointing weekend for Sallenbach as he suffered a rare mechanical failure during event #10, preventing him to finish, but fortunately he covered enough laps to gather additional championship points. Groenke who finished in 4th position during the two races at Mosport will not compete in Trois-Rivières but will be back for events #13 and 14 in Montreal. Fast rookie Adam “Iceman” Isman will be driving drive the RCJ.ca / GE Knighthawk car in Trois-Rivières, strong of a podium finish during his last race with the team at Icar. Paul Gravel, behind the wheel of the #48 LDS Dyno Cooper S, will continue his apprenticeship of racing and will be driving in Trois-Rivières for his very first time, after a trying event at Mosport. The #48 driver had a short qualifying session as his Castrol-sponsored MINI went off-track in corner #5 after only a couple of laps. He recovered nicely in the races to finish in eighth and sixth position. Paul currently sits in third position in the driver point standings. 72 Year-old veteran and Trois-Rivières resident Claude Houde will also join the team for GP3R. Claude will be driving the Trifluvien track for the 42nd time, having only missed one event since the first GP3R.
