:cornut: Rumor Control had it that a 5th fuel injector was to be put somewhere along the intake pathway to 'clean' the intake valves. Anyone heard anything about this? Jason
True Dave, but the key word is "WAS". Your R53 will become a classic at some point, there is no doubt, but it will not continue to be a daily driver forever and remain cost effective, no matter how hard that is for you to believe. Jim
First off I do not like the huge taillights. My favorite contours of the MINI body is (was) the well rounded rear corners above the taillights. I call them "buttcheeks"
Naaa Jim's ok plus it's JUSTA not worth it.:lol::lol: It's ok all the 2nd and 3rd Gen owners know deep down inside they only got a Mini because they wanted a cool car like the 1st gen owners bought when the MINI was rerelease s by BMW. It's ok search your feelings you all know its true.:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::ihih:
Good point. That said, I'd still take the carbon fiber crescent over the chrome ring. Just too much contrast going on. :arf:
Your OK too Dave, but that is not right in my case. I saw an R50 with a five speed and poor MPG. An R56 "S", with no low end torque and poor MPG. So I bought an R56 justa for the MPG. Then we bought and S, with the low end torque. My next MINI will be a 3rd gen. I don't live in the past anymore. Jim
You are correct about that....remember when the C6 came out without flip-up headlights and there were torches and pitchforks on the lawn in Bowling Green? I agree with others...need to see it in person to get a good look, but boy that front end really has a "chick car" look about it:cryin::cryin:
Ok, here goes...... The R50/52/53 has a look that just nailed it as far as I am concerned. From the curves of the bonnet to the angle of the belt line to the "Shoulders" and curve of the hatch. I just love it. The front view gives one the impression of a determined aggressive look. Now the R56..... I think they refer to it as a "Face Lift". Yea well the look gives me the impression of someone's forehead being pulled back just a bit to tight. Looks like it wants to squint but can't. The "Shoulders" on the hatch look like they are shrugging. Now......the F56. Looks like it got a face lift and now it can't close it's eyes. And it's mouth is in a constant state of "Ohhhhhh S***" But, time will tell. Just imagine what the next Fiat 500 will look like. Now that is a scarey thought.
Now now Jim, you know in your heart that will never happen I have a 1969 TR6 that's 44 years old and it still looks and drives like it was new, so with people like Dave and I "all will never die" justa sayin
I go away for two days and all this happens? I've been up 3 days with about 9 hours cumulative sleep. So I'll reserve judgment till I see it in person. Oh never mind. I cant help it. Its UUUUUGLY. I hope it looks better in person. Because if I tell someone I have a Mini I don't want them to thank thats what I drive. I thought I only had to worry about the R56 now that thing! Oops I didn't mean that.:biggrin5::biggrin5::biggrin5:
Jimbo old buddy. I know that you and Dave will keep your R53's running for ever, but a long drive will amount to the end of the driveway and back. Jim
No Jim, I guess I haven't. Besides MOTD is close enough, so you could push it there and coast down the hill if ya had to.:lol: Jim
Good luck with the turd I mean Third Gen Jim and for your sake I hope MINI remembers the past which made them so successful. "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it" -George Santayana “Those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it.†― Edmund Burke
This is very true statement Dave. History shows that the "Mini" did not change and vanished. Lets hope the "MINI" does not do that. I think BMW has been looking at "history". You on the other hand......are living in a dream of your own making. Jim
