Two people were cut from a Mini Cooper there after it collided with a CATA bus, according to WJAC TV tweets. They were taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center, a Patton Township police officer said at the scene. Only the bus driver was aboard the CATA bus, the officer said.
That's a pretty good advert for the safety of the MINI. Wonder how fast everybody was traveling upon impact...
Ouch. Sure looks like an MC40, anthracite R90s, chrome mirrors, factory lights. The R90s made it through straight. I hope all are ok, maybe MA should send them a get well card?
There is a video on the link below that shows other views. Holy crow the MINI got smashed! What a testament to a strong little car. Car collides head-on with bus in Centre Co. | www.wjactv.com "By WJAC Web Staff STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Police said a Mini Cooper was demolished when it colliding head-on with a Centre Area Transportation Authority bus Tuesday morning. Vairo Boulevard was closed from Waddle Road to Oakwood Avenue. Officials expected the road to reopen early Tuesday afternoon. The bus is one of CATA's new buses that have only been on the road for a few days. Patton Township Police Chief John Petrick said the crash happened on a curve on Vairo Boulevard a few miles outside of State College, when the driver of the Mini Cooper crossed over the center line. The two people in the Mini Cooper were not seriously hurt."
OUCH!! Still shows the strength of the MINI I have seen other brands take a hit half as hard and not look as good as that MINI does.
Seems like a timely, pre-MOTD reminder of the potential consequences of motoring beyond one's limits (and crossing the center line).
Understeer is such a dangerous thing. Looks like the first responder's made an MC40 cabrio out of that tin top. All surviving MC40's are now worth a bit more due to their increasing rarity. Hope all involved are OK. Also hope they learned a lesson or two.
Cripes... The MINI must have been way over the yellow line based on the impact mark on the bus... Hope everyone heals up well.... The yellow lines are there for a reason I guess....
ouch, looks like it hurt... guess the importance of staying on your side is for real and more people need to see this pic
