Bottom line, he knows he made a mistake and his MINI CM and luck saved his life.

    Let's move on!

So your the guy I kept getting stuck behind who refuses to pull over? Of course cruising at the posted speed is safe.....that's why it's the posted speed.....and no...it wouldn't be much fun.

Thanks for the advice on renting a track, but the Dragon is cheaper and more fun. Everybody knows what that road is about. Nobody lives on the road. Stay on your side and drive within your capabilities as fast as you can. The big danger is not speed but crossing the double yellow line.

Are you guys for real? I'm not saying endanger anyone, but keep the speed limit? Cmon....I have already safely come and gone from the 2012 Dragon. 95% of the people there, including the locals, exceed the speed limit.

If you aren't going to test the car, then what are all the performance vendors doing there? You guys are in the minority. I'm just the only one speaking out for what everyone is actually doing on the roads. You don't have to agree with it, but at least pull over and understand that not everyone thinks like you or drives like you.

I also didn't say anybody should race. But few are out there "cruising". If that's what you want to do then come at a different time than the Dragon event (or pull over)

It's not safe to exceed the speed limit if you don't know how to drive your car. So because he drove outside the boundaries of his capabilities, this is your argument that everyone should drive the speed limit on the Dragon?

Also, if I'm not mistaken, the posted speed limit on the Dragon is 35mph. There are plenty of corners that you can't or shouldn't go 35 on. Drive within your personal limits, which is different for everyone, don't cross the yellow line and pull over for those that want to drive faster than you.

I just laugh at how pious some of you are. I bet you speed on a daily basis in your normal life or maybe when you are late for something. It's funny how the organizers put together so many "spirited" runs. Some people are there to run the roads fast and others are there to view the scenery. I'm not knocking you so don't knock me. I'm simply asking to pull over. I crawled behind a yellow Justa for about 20 minutes as he passed turnoff after turnoff. I didn't come to drive slower than the speeds in my neighborhood.

On another note, there is always a thread like this after MOTD. Last year it was the MINI with the Dragon on the side that caught all the attention, after almost running Killboy off the road. I noticed I did NOT see that MINI this year. Did anyone else?

I think Fastrack1 has a reasonable view of proper behavior on public roads. There are more old ladies here than I thought! :p

The OP on the other site ammended his post to indicate this did not exactly happen on the Dragon, but on the road to the dam.....and that's a posted 15mph corner.

But like it shows in the Dragon safety vid you don't have to be going fast to have a rollover, just dropping a wheel off in the wrong spot can do it. From the way the spectators are looking down that hill, it looks pretty steep right there, and it looks like the car just got winched up from down in that holler.....

From what little you can see of the car in this pic, it clearly rolled, and at some point either hit a tree or went end over too.

Be safe out there, guys and girls. The consequences are too great. I'm glad the CM driver was lucky.
