I seriously doubt the accident had anything to do with the car he was driving, based on the eye witness description of the event.....
Hope we don't lose any more MINI's this weekend. -

Even so, he's a good driver, technically sound, so I'm surprised that this happened, and very glad he's okay. -

...and, technically speaking, it wasn't actually on the Dragon. That should count for something.

Minidave not sure what you read but the CM was the only vehicle involved according to eye witness accounts. The school bus driver called 911 and the propance driver assisted the CM driver out of the ravine. no other vehicles were involved.

No, my point was they were on the road at about the same time - my comments were directed at the guy who got upset that someone suggested he slow down.....
He indicated the real reason people go to the Dragon is to drive as fast as they can on a challenging road, I was trying to point out that other people use that road too. -

Well Said DixonL2 and Versus. This must have been scary for all involved and I am glad the driver was OK. WE certainly slowed down up there after hearing of the incident.

I am allowed to judge then, as I have been there and I've seen the craziness. My grandchildren live near there and have used this road....my comments were valid, and not meant to abrade, merely to remind people to behave responsibly and not treat it like your own private test track.
This comment by fastrack1 is what I was reacting to..
Thanks for the advice on renting a track, but the Dragon is cheaper and more fun. Everybody knows what that road is about. Nobody lives on the road. Stay on your side and drive within your capabilities as fast as you can. The big danger is not speed but crossing the double yellow line. -
I was also on the same road. It can be very deceiving as you pick up alot of speed in semi straights but need to slow quickly or fly off the side. They all say the same thing. This road claims more people than the dragon.

Excellent!
So cooler and more adult heads prevailed - well done, boys and girls! -
Ha... funny I didn't see this thread until now. I took that pic with my iPhone and posted it on my FB page. Guess it made it around.
That's definitely a sharp corner, and it's marked 15mph, which is notably lower than most others in the area (the road into Fontana). In fact, a couple years ago, my friend screamed when he saw the 15mph sign and that I was going 50mph (had plenty of time to brake), so we were watching for the 15mph sign just to laugh about that story when we came upon the line of cars backed up due to the accident. -

I think posted limits are not manatory if in yellow, they are recomended speeds. Thats what it said on my sons driving test sheet anyway. I was comfortable at 15 - 20 over. The new sway bar is great. My wife was pushing for more speed. Got to know your limits. If someone was on my tail and they wanted to overtake I pull over and give way. Great time, great people, great weather and the folks at the Microtel are so very nice.
My $.02 worth -

It can also be said that "not everyone thinks or drives like you" either, which does not make you special? :nonod:
