!!!!!
Back in the day I did a lot of high, back country, wilderness trekking and we always let all the where's, when's and how many's be abundantly know to friends, family and forest service folk. Still do when me and the co-pilot venture off for some serious motoring.

That actually happened during MSSD, Killboy put the initial report up on their FB page.
It's always a good idea to run in groups especially at night, and to know your limits and not be stupid. The Dragon is going to become a fairly regularly traveled road for me next spring, (anything I have to run into Knoxville for is either take the Dragon or a long detour) so I'm probably going to turn into one of the locals that seems to slow some of the people down. I'm sure that I'll have a lot of stories to tell once I'm there full time, hopefully with better outcomes than this one.

One lucky guy that someone found him.

I will say that there is a something nice about a solo drive. I like the idea of not having to worry others making it through turns, stop signs, lights...etc. It can be fun to just crank the radio and go, but there have been a couple of times that I have set off by myself to create a drive route (in areas with spotty cell reception at best) and had some "Code Brown" moments. I haven't done that recently, but reading this makes me think that I should probably make sure that someone at least has a draft of what I'm running in case they don't hear from me.

I'm also a big fan of solo drives...but not on the Dragon. For me, driving on the dragon takes white knuckle concentration, not especially a lot of fun. I like to head out and find nice scenic drives where I can enjoy the view...

This kind of thing happens in all kinds of places, not just up on the Dragon.
