I think it could be the end of Ferrari as we know it.....with Luca gone I think the F1 team will founder, and even tho Marchione is getting both Alfa and Maserati on better and better footing, I question whether taking Ferrari this route will be a good decision. I also wonder about the branding, will volume kill that sacred cow too? think about the new theme park in the sandbox, if you can buy a new Ferrari on any block, will the brand still have the cache to bring in the petrodollars?
They need to pull their head out of the ground and make the "NEW" Stratos happen.... [ame=http://youtu.be/KuXdh3rLTsg]Carjam: New Lancia Stratos driven by Ferrari President Montezemolo - YouTube[/ame]
Lest the poor Ferrari owner be showed up by the Porsche owner that hauls his classic 356 garage queen with a Cayenne, now that Luca is out the way watch for this to be the new vehicle for the Vintage Garage Queen Ferrari owner. Ford is annoyed too, the sale of those high end fully optioned Excursions are going to drop by like 3 a year now.

This leaves me in a quandary. I have been a Ferrari F1 fan since I found out what F1 was by watching the Grand Prix of Monaco and building a model of this car. Now that I think Ferrari will fundamentally be totally changed in a manner I do not approve will I stay a fan of the F1 team. Time will tell, but I'm just not feeling good about this change.
Feel the same way Nathan, but I also felt like this when Enzo died... Fingers crossed. Huge what if here so please bear with me, I'm just spit balling... What if the unkindly split between Luca and Ferrari was a way for Bernie to hand over his position to Luca and it not look like the F in F1 was short for Ferrari?
Interesting thought Mark. I think that would be preferred to Bernie being dead & in hell while still running the show with his sidekick satin.
In years to come Montezemolo's name may be spoken respectfully when people fondly discuss the last of Ferrari's low volume good ole days.
They're only increasing production by 350 cars for now, that's hardly a game changer.... But when talking about going from 7K to 10K annually in a world market of what - 50 million annually? - is that enough to ruin their current status or desirability? I just wonder where all these new buyers are coming from, where are they getting the money, and why the heck can't I get me some of that action?
Dollars to doughnuts they don't own a hair salon.....if they do and they pull up to work in a new Ferrari, their clientele will disappear faster than food stamps at a flea market...lol
