I came real close to going with Wagner...
Then with the new and improved Helix IC with the higher fin density....
And the fact that Helix is a supporter of the MINI community and M/A....
And the cherry on top.... If it's good enough for Ingrid Bergman's turbo, it's good enough for mine...:D

Thank you for letting me use your photos, Zach! I've seen people ask what an intercooler is, I've seen them assume that it's an additional part and not an upgrade, and I've seen a few questions about installation - assuming you HAD to go to Helix for it. I hoped this would help people who don't understand what's under the bonnet at all improve their understanding. It's not a part just for racers. Intercooler for the people!

Anyway, maybe we should start a "What's This Part" column. That would be fun.

I wouldn't say it's the only option, given the fact Wagner has their IC out and is doing pretty soild as well. Would love an independent to compare a Wagner to Helix's new IC.

I'm honored that the D.T. took the time to do this overview. As always, it was very well written: they explain things better than we do. I'm also supportive of the inclusion of any Ingrid Bergman photo in an article about Helix Motorsports.

I completely understand your point Metal. I feel like I've been involved in this new Helix unit since the very beginning because I started the GB interest thread over on NAM and it's where Helix announced they were re-doing their IC. However, I've already purchased one Wagner unit for my old R56 and it was phenomenal, however now I need an IC for my R58 JCW and am torn between these two.

I'm also very much a data guy, so I really wish someone, even if it's Helix, would run a comparison (dyno and street testing) between the new Helix unit and the Wagner Competition IC.

I will say that you probably can't go wrong with either unit though.
