I guess that would be "stock MINI "S" test driver", right?

Hey G4 are you guys (Wayne, Joel, Mark, Graham, Russell) going to be at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix?
Saturday, July 24th 2010
Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Association
International Car Show at Schenley
I may drive out for the day, but if you are not there it is not worth my 10 hour round trip. -
lol can someone please send me some install instructions for a non-aero r53...this sucker is sitting in my apt collecting dust and it isnt the removable kind so i have to figure out where i need to drill and what kind of bolts i need as i only have the turnbuckles

We winged it as we where helping Wayne. :incazzato::aureola::idea:rrr:
Note: My areo bumper is not much different than a stock bumper after you trim off the under lower lip off. The "lower lip" is where the 3 bolts are that hold on the bottom of the bumper to our radiator support.
This is what we did:
I clamped (C-clamp or triggered grip lock) the splitter to a table and marked a measured centerline. Use chalk or light crayon.
Next we took off my front bumper and measured it to find the the center line and also measured centerline. then we lined it up and clamped it on top of the splitter. (Still on the table)
Next we measured and lined up the turnbuckles. ( drilled black plastic grill and the splitter) ***Measure 10 times drill the grill and splitter once.
Next we lined up the 3 lower radiator bolt holes on the splitter and drilled them out. I did add a few self tapper screws to hold the loose back part of the splitter to the bumper while we moved it to mount it back on the car.
Next we reconnected all the lights (Side markers and turn signals) and loosly mounted the top part of the bumper back on. We did it loosly so we had wiggle room to get the lower 3 radiator support bolts started. They where a PITA because the 3 radiator support bolts are very short, but my solution to this is below. The 3 lower radiator bolts with washers hold the lower back portion on the bumper. After we had everything was hand tighted we then locked down everything for good.
Also use a little blue locktight on the turnbuckles once you have them set correctly or they will vibrate loose.
Solution for 3 short weak lower radiator bolts:
When I got home from MOTD I removed the 3 short thin lower radiator bolts and C type clips they go into in lower radiator support. You will know what I am talking about when you remove your bumper. I went to Lowes and got longer stronger bolts and stronger C Clips with wider washers. They made it much eaiser to connect the lower portion of the bumper with the added tickness of the splitter. They are very strong and hold the splitter & bumper very secure.
Hope that helps as far as an un-official G4 splitter install instructions go.
Good luck with your install and Motor On! :cornut::devil: -

yellowbritishrocket, a few added items: for the holes in the grill go over 2 rows and up 8 holes (this is in the solid section on each end of the grill), have 1 1/4" of threads showing on the t.b.s. The hole location on the splitter is at the intersection of the "S" of the relief (in other words draw a line where the curve starts front to back and a line where the curve stops right to left), they'll be about 1 1/2" long each, I use a yardstick. When you clamp the splitter to the facia have the splitter sticking out about 2 3/4" (hold a ruler straight up & down against the facia and measure out on both sides where the splitter holes are). Dave and I used self-tapping screws on the outer rear of the splitter but you can drill a couple small holes and use small bolts, washers and nylock nuts.
Hope this all helps and don't forget that you have my number and I'm almost always home, Wayne too

Hi everyone. We've been so busy building, shipping, making changes, developing some new aero aids and traveling we haven't been on the site (I don't have a lap-top to travel with).
Hope everyone is having a good summer.
We are going to MITM/MTTS next, hope we'll see you there and make some more friends :cornut:. Come over, say hi and hang around someopcorn:.
We have met really great MINIacs on our travels AND picked up a new '03 "S" to turn into a "G4 MINI", black on black on black
Thanks for the really great reception of our aero aids.
Mark :beer -
It's coming along nicely. I'll be putting the new design,, on my new '03 as soon as we get back from MITM/MTTS. Let you know asap :cornut:.
