Just puttering around will cause HIGH VELOCITY splatter. At highway speeds you will get HIGH VELOCITY spray or streaks, you CSI gal Take a closer look and you will see streaks, especially on the fins. Mark
I've a question...G4 do you make a diffuser for the R53? something about the battery box??? someone wanted to know???
Yes. Quick answer. The R53s need to have a center exhaust installed on the Coopers and on the "S" and GP's. We have looked at fitting the diffuser on a 53 with dual outlets. PM or call us for specifics. Joel
The battery box issue has to do with the straight exhaust for the rear diffuser, without the split for dual mufflers. If they come up with a rear diffuser that works with dual mufflers, that takes the battery box issue out of play, but the question is will that rear diffuser work as well as one with a muffler set to the side or a single pipe right down the middle. My uneducated guess is no. Group 4 makes a few different straight exhausts (straight from front to tailpipe, not the dual muffler setup), depending on your wants/needs, that balance performance and noise level. I'm getting one in the very near future (which reminds me, I probably should call Wayne next week and send him a check). The most aggressive requires modification of the battery box. I don't want to do that, so I'm getting one that will fit without modifying the battery box, but still has good performance, is a single straight pipe, so will work great with the rear diffuser. I'm a little skeptical about how well a dual muffler setup will work with the rear diffuser--it's probably better yet to have the exhaust come out the side, but for aesthetics, I want a center pipe, although I'm willing to sacrifice the dual mufflers. Even though they look pretty sweet.... Sorry to jump in, but I've spent like 78 hours discussing this with Mark, so I have a rudimentary idea of what can be done--just call Mark, Wayne, or Joel and they can help you chose your best option.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone To answer questions: yes we make an exhaust system that does not require altering the battery box. Every major bend loses HP, ours is as straight as possible, weighs less and gains up tp 17 HP. We designed this system with a retired Magnaflow engineer that now owns a performance exhaust company. We had to do this for the diffusers to function correctly. The diffusers are made of aluminum and powdercoated. I do not know how much they weigh but not much. They are designed at a specific exit ramp angle. The design causes a low pressure area that sucks the rear end down and accelerates the air out the back at an upward angle which lessens the "parrachute" effect, pulling less air lets you go faster quicker. As of yet we do not have a diffuser design for the R50. I know "JustAcooper" folks feel left out of almost everything but design, R&D and testing takes time to do it right. We will not just throw something together or copy what others have done, that's not us. And Cubby yes we are working on a splitter. If you want first hand knowledge just ask our customers. Mark
Well I figured you all don't have a diffuser yet designed for the R50 or Justacooper, but I was asking about the splitter.
The front end on MINI's is the same. Worst comes to worse, toss an MCS bumper on your R50 and the splitter would be a perfect match. I ran an r53 bumper on my r50 and loved it.
Rally is right . The R53 splitter will fit a R50. You might have to do some trimming but that holds true for most as they all seam to be different. No big deal . PM me Cubby Mark
We updated our web-site. It's still not fancy but has more. We would like some customer pictures to post Mark
Mark--I'll give you a call tomorrow. Need to get that rear diffuser and exhaust on--and the wing and splitter too.
Mark, here is a picture of me!!! I'm a customer!! Oh, I'm pictured here with some Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders during a BootGate party that Mini of Dallas put together!!! :eek6::eek6::eek6::eek6::lol::lol::lol: Or do you want pictures of Customers diffusers??? hahahahah!!! "can't wait for MOTD"
+1 on "got me" These are customers I like , always having FUN, even at my expense---which of course happens often 'cause we have fun too . By the way there is a mistake on the web-site. The spoiler extensions do NOT cost $250.00 unpainted & $300.00 painted. They are $200.00 in semi-gloss black primer and $250.00 painted in gloss black & gloss white. Corrections will be made VERY soon. Sorry 'bout that See you all at the Dragon. Mark
photo of customer car One of our customers send me a photo of his car after Ice racing all day. He wanted to show me how little snow had built up on the hatch window.
Is that supposed to be a good thing, other than cosmetically? It doesn't mean anything performance wise does it? Below is a photo of the VW after stage 2 of the Dakar. Notice how all of the back has an even dirt coating. I bet that body has spent some time in a wind tunnel.
Actually, G4 does NOT make things "just for show". The rear wing extension works to plant the rear of the car. Jim
Oh that makes it even more tempting. Discounts for PittStopMINI members, right? right? :arf: I'd let you photograph my car all you want. Edit: I guess I can't get one anyways since I don't have the rear spoiler.
