There is a comparison of a stock system and our system on our web site "Group 4 Autosport.com". The site is not fancy but effective, enjoy.
They make one with a bend in the pipe that clears the battery box. Otherwise, you can get one that's straight, but it requires some work on the battery box. I had this setup, but I'll warn you, with a header and BVH, it's loud. Which sucks, because now I can't use the rear diffuser; it won't clear twin cans. On a stock MCS or JCW, the straight exhaust should be just fine. I still have the magnaflow up front, and took the 2.5 pipe back to the split in the JCW exhaust, where it comes down to 2.25, so I lose a little (but you're going to lose a little with the bend for the battery box anyway). Anytime you get rid of the split and go to a straight pipe, expect more noise. As long as you're stock, or close to stock, you're fine, but if you have, or are thinking of getting a BVH/Header combo, I'd strongly recommend a split exhaust if you drive on the street. Track only car, that would be different. Mark, got the splitter on, still have some fine tuning to adjustment, but it came out nice. Now just get me that wing!
I've got a Madness exhaust, but stock headers. Of course, until I win the lottery, the Family CFO would nix any project, so for now, it's all just info to be filed for future use.
With the new 2.25" system and new design mufflers we are getting rid of the noise and drone problem. The slight bending to go under the battery box we are still getting 10 to 12hp gain, real hp. The 2.5" system produces more hp but as stated by wise MINIacs there is more noise. You have to give a little to get a lot. The wing is in final development and I should have word soon. It's taking longer then expected but we want to get it right. :drool Mark
What kind of effort goes into installing the splitter? Is there a soft copy of the installation instructions anywhere? I've looked around and not had any luck finding anything.
Group4? Yes, I talked to Mark V at MOTD...expressed interest in doing wing designs for them...I have the background and design equipment...we'll see... I love to have their diffuser but don't really want to modify my exhaust to "single" muffler...it's loudass enough lol...but I might not have a choice if I go this route in the future since even the small Borla mufflers would intrude into the tunnel...hmmmm.....
Joel was missed at breakfast each morning. I hear that house might take 10 or 12 years to complete. Jim
Check with Mark (Putterfarm). I believe the wing is still on the table, but not sure the status right now. Jim
Glad to see Mark is back at it. Last time I talked with Wayne, they had shelved the rear wing--they were having too many headaches getting parts. Maybe that's changed. I went with the Orranje rear wing, fubrication makes a nice looking one too, but the Orranje guys are little more track oriented so I went in that direction. Still have the rear diffuser, which I'm going to hang onto and eventually install, once I can figure out a reasonably quiet straight exhaust.
I am looking for a wing for the clubman! I was told they were working on one but had not heard anything on it since MOTD
Mark told me the other day, they are still working on the wing, but do not have it exactly right yet. They want to be sure it is "functional" and not just decoration. He will keep folks posted. Jim
