UKCoopeR & phudeaux you are correct , the stock and some aftermarket exhaust ON R53s do interfere with the diffuser and it's purpose :cornut:, they also suck a lot of HP with all the bends and small diameter pipe :eek6: ninimark I am going to use my '03 S to give you a straight answer. While I like the idea of not drilling holes in the bumper cover, I can't help but think that locating the supports in the lower grill would provide little structural value. Regardless, it does look cool.
We have tested this on the track and this installation will provide the least damage in the event of an "off." Our splitter is extemely strong with its lightweight composite material vs carbon fiber that we don't feel that it's worth damaging your car with mounting it to the structure. We have found in testing that we can get the downforce we need and here's what happens if we have an "incident." Just like in F1, we can replace a simple component. In our case, it's the $60 grille rather than the front of the car.
We upgraded the turnbuckles and are making the splitter removeable and re-installable. Each operation should be achievable in 20 minutes or less. Oh, I forgot. More news to come on the diffuser. Maybe I can confirm after the upcoming Holiday!
