Follow up posting, two targets, the M&P40c 2nd image and the first image is the Beretta 9mm PX4 Storm both compacts, both shoot very nicely. The 40 has a bit more bark and recoil, but even my weak wrists found it tolerable/controllable. I pushed about 5 magazines through each today. The M&P is a first time shoot, so it will get better. A mix of 180 grain 40 fmj and Sig Hollow points which are a bit stronger than the fmj. The 40 had 3 failure to feed and go into battery, I had to oil the ramp after the first 3 mags, then all was well. I was using some pretty cheap Brazilian target ammo. Will switch to Federal or Winchester on the next session. I was shooting target 115gr 9mm, bought at the last gun show visit, but it performed well.

First time I have fired a striker fired piston other than about 5 rounds form my SIL Glock 19 about two years ago, it is definitely different in trigger control and getting the feel of the trigger safety. My M&P 40c has a manual slide safety, you can get it with or without. (old school here)!

Another guy was in shooting his Glock 40 (23?), my little groups looked better IMHO. :) :)

Could it be that CA is on track to ban/confiscate the scary looking "AR platform" guns?
gunbroker.com or budsgunshop.com will probably be the least expensive places to look for a new or used Mini-14. It's a popular little rifle.

I love mine. The Tapco 30 round mag pictured was junk so I returned it. Only Ruger mags for me now. Sorry can't help with where to shop in CA.

Hadn’t shot in a while until a couple weeks ago. Up at a friends house and asked if we wanted to shoot some while up there. He broke out his M1, 1903, 1917 and some other things. Really liked that M1, may need to pick when up. Next up on the purchase list though looks like a Sig P365.

I just picked up a used Sig P938 to keep in the vehicle with a magnet. Comparision pic to my VP9 SK... Only been to the range once with it so far but was more accurate with it then I thought I'd be with such a short barrel.. MAy end up taking the laser off but it came with the gun...

I've got a baby Glock, the 26, I think, for home defense and occasional carry. I don't get out to the range often, but I try and get out at least once a year to keep the dust off of any skills I might have. I went to an outdoor range once that had steel targets. The range master said "you can take the lane at the end for now, but the targets are way too far down range for that gun... I'll move you to something better when it opens up." With my first magazine, I hit the steel 8 of 10 times (I'm guessing 30 yards out, 8" disks). The range master wandered down... "Any mods on that? (nope... just a sueded grip wrap) Looks like I don't need to move you after all! Nice shooting."

Short barrel? Here's my daily carry in it's pocket holster. A Seecamp .380 (6+1). It damn-near rips my hand off with a barrel just over 2" long, but it's not something you hope to shoot that often. It's made for pocket carry and, with barrel that short, they skipped the sights!

I shoot it 20-30 times a year. That's all I can stand in one session. I'll finish off my previous year's ammo, buy 2 boxes of new stuff that has the same lot number, shoot one box and then use the other box as my ammo for the year.

106C290A-5ECD-43A0-AC8F-6E65FC7ABEE2.jpeg Yep. I’m proud of the boy. Started teaching him to shoot at age 5 with a little Crickett .22 that Santa brought him for his first Christmas. Now at 11 he hunts with his.243, my old .30 cal M1 Carbine, 20 gauge, and compound bow. Between me and his stepdad the boy will never be gun poor. When he started he was too small to use the shooting bench so he improvised.

Try a revolver with a 2.25-inch barrel with Hydra-Shok ammo some time. I had an Ruger SP101 2.25", and fired two rounds of that ammo. I was in an indoor range, and even with ear protection, it sounded like a canon, and it hurt... my hand was even sore the next morning. None of my friends wanted to try it.

I'd like to have another SP101, with a longer barrel, to take to the range. They are too expensive for me at this time.

I have a Ruger LCR.357 with a 1.875” barrel. The Hogue Tamer grips with a gel pad right below where the hammer would be helps a lot with the felt recoil. I mostly plink with .38special ammo, but when I carry it I use short barrel .357 ammo. A little less recoil and a lot less muzzle flash. It’s a nice CCW, but extra ammo is a little more trouble than the extra mag for my G43.

A Remington 870 short police edition is all the home protection I need and it will put nice size holes in people and knock down a whack job on crack easy.

I am in no way against guns of all types and believe we should all be able to carry anything we want anywhere we want. Idiots tend to not bother you our your family with a AK with a 30 clip hanging off your shoulder.

Not guns but knives. A Randall collector wanted to get some of my old tools to become a goldsmith and this is what I ended up with. I guess I am now a Randall collector :) :) DSC05200.JPG
