I have an old Williams Micrometer sight with a globe front sight on my 7MM IHMSA pistol. It is an excellent sight that I used with success out to 200 Meters. Way too big a sight for a single six though. I stuck with the stock sights on both of mine. I picked up a set of rosewood sights from Ruger several years ago for one of my single sixes and they predictably were a perfect fit. The Ruger site often has clearance sales and I believe that's how I got my grips. They also had Ruger stamped cavalry style flap holsters for a great price. Only problem was they are for a 5" barrel and both mine are 7". Too good a deal to pass up though and a good excuse to buy another single six. :D

Getting back from Iowa has taken a toll this week, still hot and much to do, but did get some MINI time the 5280 folks.

Will try out the Single Six (new front sight) and the CZ at the range on Monday, still have to work those grips.

Thanks for the hints about the Ruger website store, need to check that more often. I wonder if the 5 1/2 barrel will fit in that 5 inch flap holster, need one or similar.

Will post a pic or two after the therapy session.

    :)

From what I have seen the USP is a fine piece. You should keep it and get the P2000 for the hot carry months. :)

I shot my CZ 75 yesterday, it would not be my daily carry unless we go to open carry in the cities which is not going to happen. It is a big gun and shoots true!

After a few weeks away from my home range, it was time for some target therapy.

Took the 22s over for about an hour, shooting out to 40 feet with the Ruger Single Six and the Browning Buckmark with the micro-red dot. Fun time, great relaxation.

Not real tight, but good for me. They guy next to me was exercising an AR15 type platform, I think he might have been shooting 300 blackout, damn loud, even with muffs and ear plugs.

Finally got to go out and shoot at the range today, it has been so long.

Decided to see if I could shoot the CZ 75 SP-01, since I have been messing with the revolvers, it is still my favorite automatic, but not my EDC.

Will post up a picture or two after they upload. 9mm 115gr 25 feet and 35 ft. mixed on these two. :eek6:

Nice day at the range, quiet (relative statement) as there were only 2 other folks shooting this afternoon after 2pm.

I went Christmas shopping yesterday. Picked up a Glock 42 for my Daughter and while I was there I snagged a G43 for myself. Still can't rack the slide with my off hand, but this gives me incentive to work even harder in PT. I've never been a big Glock fan, but since my Daughter got her CCW I've been looking for something reliable for her EDC. Both are sweet little single stack pistols and have a capacity of 6 + 1. Like my cars, I can't leave well enough alone. I've already ordered Truglo TFO sights for mine, along with a Ghost Edge Connector, Pierce +1 grip extensions, an extended slide stop, and some Talon rubber grip panels. I have a friend who owns my LGS and his son is a gunsmith that specializes in Glocks, so I'm gonna hand him a bag of parts and my G43 and tell him to go to town on it. I'd like to end up with a 3.5-4 pound trigger when he's done. I probably won't be shooting mine until Christmas when Santa brings the G42 to my Daughter. Maybe by that time I will be able to operate it a little better. I will post a range report when I can.

The G42 is on top and the G43 the bottom.

Went all the way to MO to the farm with my little 22LR Single Six Convertible. Intent was to plink some cans and water bottles. NoJoy!

Never took it out of the gun case or even unlocked the gun case, just to much to do and other things came up to fill the 7 days. Oh well, next time.

Plan on going to the range on Monday or Tuesday this week, just some defensive shooting training, 2 and 1 at 21 feet.

    :)

actually Red Jacket is no more... after the owner of RJF was indicted on child sex charges Joe took the company...dissolved it then rebuilt it into 2 companies... Meaux Firearms and Aklys Defense... I had a long convo with joe himself when the kit was delayed so he wanted to call me personally about it... they revamped the kits with stiffer springs and a more durable material

it also has an adjustable trigger cam so if you decide to swap the trigger out for a trick one or a match grade all you have to do is readjust the cam

That Ruger is a "select fire" weapon. Would love to get my hands on one. I've never seen a select fire Mini-14 (AC-556).

Picked up my G43 from my LGS today. The new sights are a BIG improvement over the stock units. The grips and extended slide stop work great and the trigger is much smoother now. Now I just need to put 2-300 rounds through it to start breaking it in. Trigger should get even better the more rounds I put through it.

Hey Don. Thanks, I love the sights. They are Truglo TFO and I knew I would like them because I have them on my Kimber custom .45 and SA XD-45 Tactical. The Talon grip panels do make it a lot easier to control.

Had dinner at my Daughter's house today. While the turkey was in the IR turkey frier I put a 100 round box of Winchester white box 115gr FMJ through the G43. This is the first time shooting since the five operations on the left arm and I gotta tell you, I'm waaaay out of practice. Seemed like no matter what I did I was hitting low and to the left at 7-10 yards. They were all on paper, but about 5-7 inches to the 7 o'clock of the bull. Not the sights because my son in law was putting them all on target. Just need more practice I guess. As you would expect from a Glock, the pistol ran great and got better as the round count went up. two or three hundred more rounds and it should be broken in. It shoots (or maybe I should say I) well enough that it's gonna replace the Ruger LCR .357 I've been carrying for the last few months. Felt good to shoot again, but my wrist is begging to differ at the moment. All in all a nice way to spend Thanksgiving. Hope all of y'all had a nice one too.

It was between 15 and 20 yards. I mainly wanted to show my daughter and nephew that you can hit with the 40. It just takes practice. Group shooting is not fun but it is a must. Once you start moving and shooting under stress everything changes.

I've never owned a gun (beyond my bb gun as a kid) and haven't shot a gun in probably 20 years, but I always find myself drawn to the gun threads of any forum I'm member of. I believe that everyone should know how to operate a firearm and understand firearm safety, so the idea of having to complete a formal training seems like a reasonable requirement for gun ownership. While many people may have been properly trained by others (family, friends, at a range), there are likely also those who go out and buy a gun due to the fear mongering in the media and figure they have watched enough tv shows/movies or played enough Call of Duty to understand how to use their new purchase.

I like that idea. I would sign up.

In the article it says conservatives might not like "being deputized" "because it could offend the notion that gun rights are inherent and that no permission is needed from the government to exercise them". But this doesn't stop current concealed carry or interfere with any gun rights.

Years ago I had ex-military friends that had carry rights and would volunteer to fly as air marshals. They would have their gun with them on the plane. I think this program is still going on but it's kept quite for obvious reasons.

A number of Sheriffs around the country are calling for people to start carrying. Search "sheriff calls for people to carry guns"
