"Straw buying" or a "straw purchase": A straw purchase occurs when the actual buyer of a firearm is unable to pass the required federal background check, or does not want his or her full name associated with the purchase, and has someone else who can pass the required background check purchase the firearm for him or her.

On a side note,
Wife went to a "ladies" night shoot at LEPD range here in Columbus recently. She really liked the place.
Probably not a good idea for single men to be trying to woo the ladies at these events [emoji379]-

CarlB, you have to visit the NRA museum. It 's free to the public and has great displays of gun over time from all over the world. We spent almost 3 hours checking everything out a couple of years ago.

In Ohio we fill out the ATF form, they run the checks and when it says proceed you pay for the gun and walk out the door with it. I may need to buy another one just to verify that is still how it goes...

Colorado is the same, paperwork then background check. Funny in Colorado, the staff has to walk you to the checkout area for you to pay for your new toy, then they have to walk you out the door.
As noted, if the system is busy, the wait is a bit more, never more than 30 minutes.
I will see how it goes with I find that Ruger I am wanting.-

The last one I bought (GSG 5-22 MP-5 clone in .22LR) was right when the last big gun scare started... My wait time went from the normal 1/2 hour to nearly 2 WEEKS! I almost forgot I bought it when they called and said to come pick it up! [emoji12]
Now I have no use for that one, so I'm thinking of selling it.-

A permit to buy a handgun? I don't think that is in most states tbh. Here in Colorado the only thing you need a permit for is concealed carry. We even have open carry laws still! Goddamn handgun permit the idea makes me cringe

If you'r just looking for a nice handy .308 this ones considerably cheaper than the M1A. Disregard the MSRP. I paid $700 at my LGS. YMMV
