Thanks for the offer.
I have a lower empty receiver. I just have to figure out what I want for the rest. My son is a gun smith so I have his help if I need it.
I'm thinking a piston driven action instead of gas. May be an 18" barrel, good compromise between range and maneuverability. Then flat top upper so I can mount anything on it.
What manufacturers do you recommend?

American Rifleman had an article recently about the ammo shortage and high prices, they said it was because of gun enthusiasts buying up available stocks and hording ammo.

I was watching some old youtube the other day, commentary and gun evaluations and a topic resurfaced, so I thought I would pop it here and see what you folks think.
What is the minimum acreage you would need to have in order to set up a personal/private range and shoot safely?
I know laws across all the states and counties will vary, so comment as you wish, if it is state and county specific for your area, note that too.
Some say you can shoot on any unincorporated county area. I know is some of the Colorado Counties shooting outside a licensed range is not permitted, Boulder, Denver, Broomfield and parts of Adams are very restrictive or nothing is allowed.
As for all of Colorado and Wyoming I am going to have to research it some!
Comments? Share your knowledge and ideas.
Personally, I would like to be able to shoot on a 5 to 10 acre piece of property that has the proper grading or site lines to allow safe shooting.

Along with rules and laws you'll want to check with the neighbors. I set up a low caliper range at one house with 1.5 acers. I talked to all my neighbors first so no one would freak out or get upset. My parents had 2.5 acers with nothing but woods on the back. For years we shot everything there, shooting down hill, until some new neighbors complained.

Teresa, is that a yearly membership? Do you have a monthly range fee too?
It does look like they did a nice job.

I'm no expert but...... What load did you use? I know it a 380 so don't be angry when I say this but a limp wrist can cause a stove pipe. Take a good look at your spent rounds and the ejector.
One other thing are they reloads? I use reloads for practice they can be inconsistent. -
-
For an auto to work correctly it needs a firm platform. If you do not have the correct grip and allow your wrist to move too much during recoil it can jam. Whats happening is your wrist are taking up the recoil instead of the slide so the round is not moving the slide all the way back. because of this the round can not be ejected properly.
But I think it may be the ammunition they sold you. If the load is too light that can be a problem.
I use reloads to practice with, but I always run the amo I use when carrying. Do at least 100 rounds of your carry amo to make sure it does not jam. Some people wold say 500 rounds but I believe thats a bit much. I will tell you My carry gun has jammed only once or twice in the past 4 years. I have another just like it, I ran 1000 rounds through it before cleaning it, it never jammed once.
Try better ammunition and see what happens. If it jams I would call Ruger. -
I have a LCP 380 and haven't had any issues with the gun. I have fired several 100 rounds with no issue so maybe it was the ammo or your grip. It's a nice little gun but definitely has some thump, kick, to it.

I'm always amazed at the quantity of guns folks own in the US. A chap at work has around 15 nice pistols, revolvers etc. Any would be invading Zombie army does not stand a chance against the home guard. LOL
My fav gun is that big thing Clint Eastwood carries. Magnum I believe.
Another question: Is that that big ass gun in the Hercules used in the Transformer movie real?
A10 Warthog is my fav flying gun. -
