Went to the gun store with my older daughter. She is going to get her carry permit, so we were looking for a gun for her. The gun expert walks up and ask what I would like to see. I explain and tell him I will be getting her something in 40. The expert tells the neophyte (me) that I should get her a 9 because it has less recoil and is more accurate. Also with newer amunation it just as powerful as a 40. The BS was getting deep. Then he said he and a friend took a 9 and 40 to the range. He said the 40 had about a 10 in. group and then they used the 9 and got about a 3 in. group. So the expert has set me straight and my daughter knows the old man doesent know squat. I thank him for his wealth of knowledge.
Here's my answer to him.
H&K USP Compact in .40cal
I know I have a few flyers Ill try harder next time.

And maybe there should be a test before you're allowed to take advantage of the first amendment? You've got to remember that the right to keep and bear arms is a God given right. The 2nd Amendment doesn't give us that right. It tells the government what it can't do.

No. I bought, wrapped and gave it to her. It's still legal in VA to buy a firearm as a present as long as it's not illegal for them to own a firearm.
And, as long as they don't pass that asinine "universal background check" I'll continue to be able to do so.-

Thought I would share a shot (pun) from the range.
Left is my recently worked over Chiappa 1911-22lr, much smoother now.
Right is Browning Buckmark Micro Bull 22LR, simple reflex sight! If the shooter was better, I could rise to the challenge by one of our range-masters, 10 into a quarter at 30.

I hope this image shows up, let me know.-

My oldest daughter wanted to go shooting yesterday. After she sends a few down range she said,"I have one question, does it come in pink?".

We would do "guns in a box" drills...
Which included:
1 M9
1 M4
1 SAW
1 240-B
1 M2 .50 caliber
1 MK19
And sometimes a complete TOW missile system
All fully broke down and put into a big grab bag...
Only 1/2 hour to get them all put together, set up, functions checked, and ready for use!

By no means am I experienced, but I am VERY excited to continue gun skills training that my husband and I started this year. That said, our home defense is a Mossberg 550 pistol grip I refer to fondly as Big Bertha. In anticipation of starting a collection, we bolted down a ginormous safe, safety first!:biggrin5:
We are both awaiting our Colorado CCW Permits (45 days). I am eyeing a 42. It fits well in a small woman's hand for conceal. We will both add Glock 9 mm and a couple of rifles for skeet. Research, research, research!:biggrin5:-

I thought this turned out pretty cool. I was doing hip pocket training on disassembly and cleaning of my SAW and thought I'd snap a picture. Somehow, it turned out like this.

I went back to the range today. This time I had better ammo and, unlike before, I was aware of the limp wrist 'thing'. Fifty rounds with no problems. I'm feeling much better now.

Went to a planning meeting at MINI of Loveland for the August MITM track day. Went up early and dropped by one of my favorite stores, Sportsman's Warehouse, they have pretty good store for rifles, revolvers and a bunch of automatics.
I have been looking for a Ruger Single-Six (new style) in 22LR/22MAG, they had three. Wow, candy store.
I was tempted to get the 6 inch barrel, but settled for the 5 1/2 barrel blued. I will let you know how it shoots in a few weeks.
This will become the farm gun for this and that, at least on the farm I can shoot in the backyard.
