Especially after the latest terrorist attack yesterday in Cali. No gun zone allowed them to reload.
Prayers out to the victims.

Sad but true! A firearms training certificate similar to a hunters safety card should be required to purchase a gun IMHO.

Going to 5280 armory tomorrow. Have my eye on a Mossberg 308 rifle, w/scope. Quite lovely.

Back in the late '80s we had an NRA Christmas. My dad, mom, wife and myself all got new firearms for presents.-

Didn't realize you had to have a permit to purchase a handgun in NC. I'm afraid you're mistaken about "most" states requiring a permit to purchase a handgun, although of the states that do, NC is one of the better ones since the permit is good for 5 years.

Man, I wish this rain would stop. I got two 100 round boxes of 9mm for Christmas and I want to run them through my G43 to finish breaking it in. I'm gonna shoot at least 50 rounds in low light or semi darkness to evaluate the effectiveness of my TruGlo TFO sights.-

For the most part the only way to buy out of state is having it sent to an FFL.
There is going to be a new cable channel next year that will be like QVC for guns. Our local store is looking to be the FFL transfer agent for the area.-

Kinda what I thought. I can always buy online from Buds and have it sent to my local. They will do a $10 FFL for me or my range is now an FFL, so that is option.
Thanks for making the call MCS02, guess they have to be cautious.
If I make it down in May, I will stop and shoot at their range and look around. Nice store I understand.
Kinda like Wally World for shooters.

I do not know if any of you guys have read about the new Ruger American Pistol? I live outside Washington DC and last weekend they had a very gun show in Chantilly VA. You had to wait in line to get in. The place was packed. I got a Ruger American in 9mm. It is a striker with a nylon frame. The safety is in the trigger, and it feels better to me than the Sig or the Glock. Can't wait to go shoot it. I live 5 miles from the NRA headquarters, but haven't had the time yet.

I haven't made it over to try my new gun, but I am very familiar with the museum. The NRA probably has the best gun collection in the world. Anyone in the Washington DC area should plan on coming out to Fairfax to see it. The NRA building is probably 10 miles away from the Air & Space museum at Dulles Airport. They have a SR-71, a space shuttle, and the Enola Gay, among others. The Ruger pistol was the first gun I have purchased sense moving to Virginia. At the gun show there were 100s of people buying guns. At the booth I purchased my pistol from there were about five people filling out paper work. A ATF form and state of Virginia form were required. They said come back in half a hour. When I got back I had to wait in line to get my pistol. I was impressed the back ground system was keeping up.

My favorite .308 is my MAS 49/56. Originally 7.5 mm a number of them brought here were re-chambered to .308. I mine at a local show with 2 mags for $300. Some of the re-chambering jobs were pretty bad mine was well done. The second one I picked up wasn't very good and it took a little work to get it right. I sold it to a friend and made a $100
They are a blast to shoot and draw a little attention at the range.

Don't know... In 2014 there was a group that went to a skeet range, but don't know about a rifle/pistol range.
If you find out there is, I might bring some toys. [emoji12]-

I do however own a M9, but it's never been fired. I found it at a gun shop in '07 or '08 for a price I couldn't pass up. It's an USAF Commemorative version. They also had the other services, but by the time I decided to pick up a couple more they were sold out. It's one of my few "safe queens".Attached Files:

I love my 1911. It's nothing fancy, just a Rock Island Tactical in 45, but it is a joy to shoot. It makes the extra you pay for the rounds worth it.

Good post. When I taught my Daughter to shoot, I told her from the get go that it was my way or the highway. After she has some advanced classes under her belt that could and probably will change. She actually thinks I'm a pretty smart guy now that she's raising a son and is doing most of the things she hated when she was a kid.
I got rid of my last .40 when I traded it in on a new Kimber. I liked the caliber okay, but it was too snappy in a small auto for the minimal advantage over a 9. I've never been a big fan of the 9 in general, but came around when they started making the small format carry pistols like my G43. An important part of selecting what you carry is ammo choice also. The main downside of the compact pistols is mag capacity. I'm not comfortable with just six or seven rounds, so you also have to consider how to carry at least one additional mag.
That's just my experience though. YMMV
Edit: I guess I could always carry my BUG. Only problem is I only have three rounds of .41 rimfire.

Find a copy of the current Shooters Bible. It has conditions and values for most guns, both old and new.

First 10
Well, it shoots well, first 10 at 30 feet, iron sights, two hand hold. Sights are fiber front and rear, nice sights.
Shot the first 10, CCI Stinger, second 10 Federal match, magazines need to break in a bit and need more rounds. By the time I finished up with about 120 rounds fired it was shooting well. Likes Stinger and CCI MINI MAG best of all, will shoot Fed. Match 22LR OK, but for some reason the mags did not feed on a couple of rounds.
Bottom line, will make a good BullsEye pistol for the up and coming, but I may shoot my Buckmark until I get this one broke in some more.
The Buckmark fires anything, I do mean anything. Also, it has my red-dot scope for my old eyes.
Couple of todays pictures.
First 10 Stinger at 30.
Last target of session shooting at 50 feet.
The bottom small shots were with my 9mm Beretta Storm at 5 yards, having some issues with it shooting point of aim up and right it is on the bullseye, see the one on the right. Fixed sights, not adjustable except hammer and drift, time to fix that. It is the library gun, so I know it is fine at 12 feet.
Don
I will keep you informed about the S&W Victory, thinking the carbon fiber match barrel with a nice mini red-dot, but I need to get my buddy to CNC me a rail out of good metal using the one with the pistol as a pattern. We shall see.

Although an oxymoron, it's always good to remember "Slow is Smooth, Smooth is Fast".
Also if you can get your hands on Elmer Keith's "Hell, I was There!", Bill Jordan's "No second place winner", or anything by Clint Smith you'll be entertained as well as learning a thing or two.-
