So I took My nephew to the range today. He has a carry permit but has not done much shooting. So I was going to take him through some drills. My hearing is not good so I had my noise attenuating headset. He was looking at them and asked how they worked. We had just loaded up and were holstered. I told him to put them on and asked if he could hear me? He was like yea really good. I said this is what happens when you shoot. The targets were about 30 yards away, I was not going to shoot from there but to demo the head set I due one handed and quickly fried at the target. I didn't care if I hit the target, i was just showing how the head set worked. He said man thats incredible. I say yea there cool. He said no, your shot hit the target dead center, did you mean to do that. I should have said yes but I told the truth. It was a luck shot. I do train a good bit with my H&K but all I did was quickly draw looking at the target and fired. I just wanted to make sure I didn't shoot above the back stop. Man I wish I could clam the hit!
My wife sent me a strange story of a guy in Cali that was found in his car dead. On checking his house he had 1200 guns and 6.5 tons of amo. That may be enough.
You guys are getting punchy, go shoot some targets or perhaps some tannerite. Anything, 6.5 tons of ammo, holy brass.... :eek6:
After a few weeks away from my home range, it was time for some target therapy. Took the 22s over for about an hour, shooting out to 40 feet with the Ruger Single Six and the Browning Buckmark with the micro-red dot. Fun time, great relaxation. Not real tight, but good for me. They guy next to me was exercising an AR15 type platform, I think he might have been shooting 300 blackout, damn loud, even with muffs and ear plugs.
I love this quote from The Lord Of War but it didn't fit with funny sayings "There is 1 gun for every 12 people in the would. The question is how do we arm the other 11"
Went to my Daughters house Sunday. Everyone was at the backyard range. Grandson (8yrs) was checking the zero on his .243. Youth Day is Saturday and Sunday, so he and his stepdad get to hunt a week early. My Granddaughter was practicing with her compound bow. An enjoyable afternoon even though I didn't shoot anything myself.
Woke up this AM to the sound of my alarm being disarmed followed by giggling. My Grandson and his Mom and Stepdad had driven the 25 miles to my house to show me Eli's first deer of the season. First thing he said was "it's gnarly, but it's got 13 points". And it is a nice, but strange rack. Took his first deer at 7 years old last year. This is his second. They left heading home to finish dressing the deer and get it put in the freezer so they can go out again this afternoon. Proud of my boy! This is Eli and his Stepdad taken in my back yard. Yep, I was standing around in the rain taking pictures in my pajamas.
Great pictures. The first thing I thought of when I looked at the antlers is that they would make a nice set of scales for a skinning knife. After all, it's his first deer, right?
He took a doe last year. His stepdad is going to do a skull mount on a nice piece of cross cut cedar tree.
Finally got to go out and shoot at the range today, it has been so long. Decided to see if I could shoot the CZ 75 SP-01, since I have been messing with the revolvers, it is still my favorite automatic, but not my EDC. Will post up a picture or two after they upload. 9mm 115gr 25 feet and 35 ft. mixed on these two. :eek6: Nice day at the range, quiet (relative statement) as there were only 2 other folks shooting this afternoon after 2pm.
Two days in a row.... I feel relaxed and blessed. Since I am going to MO next week, I felt the need to exercise the hands a bit. Yesterday took over the CZ 75 and the Ruger 357 to the range. Below is the result. Shooting at 45 feet, 38 spec. hot loads by Magtech. The CZ was at 30 feet. The top picture is the revolver, the 9mm is under the black target. The other picture of today's target is the Browning 22 at 40/45 feet, with some CCI 40 grain MINIMAG is is a little tack driver, to bad the shooter is not up to it. 9mm and 38 Spec. 22LR The album is sitting here. Only 4 pictures... Don It was a nice way to relax in the afternoon.
