I went Christmas shopping yesterday. Picked up a Glock 42 for my Daughter and while I was there I snagged a G43 for myself. Still can't rack the slide with my off hand, but this gives me incentive to work even harder in PT. I've never been a big Glock fan, but since my Daughter got her CCW I've been looking for something reliable for her EDC. Both are sweet little single stack pistols and have a capacity of 6 + 1. Like my cars, I can't leave well enough alone. I've already ordered Truglo TFO sights for mine, along with a Ghost Edge Connector, Pierce +1 grip extensions, an extended slide stop, and some Talon rubber grip panels. I have a friend who owns my LGS and his son is a gunsmith that specializes in Glocks, so I'm gonna hand him a bag of parts and my G43 and tell him to go to town on it. I'd like to end up with a 3.5-4 pound trigger when he's done. I probably won't be shooting mine until Christmas when Santa brings the G42 to my Daughter. Maybe by that time I will be able to operate it a little better. I will post a range report when I can. The G42 is on top and the G43 the bottom.
Ok well that's odd. I read it twice, but you lefT out what you got me. Glocks are nice. Someone will be happy. It hasn't happened but today I will be taking my nice and her husband shooting.
Went all the way to MO to the farm with my little 22LR Single Six Convertible. Intent was to plink some cans and water bottles. NoJoy! Never took it out of the gun case or even unlocked the gun case, just to much to do and other things came up to fill the 7 days. Oh well, next time. Plan on going to the range on Monday or Tuesday this week, just some defensive shooting training, 2 and 1 at 21 feet. Don
I just traded for a 'Charles Daly' .45 APC. It's supposed to be a great shooting .45, a caliber I have no interest in shooting. Anyone one familiar with it? Supposed to be worth $400.00. I wish they would have had MINI parts to trade...I could use an exhaust. BTW...I live in Ohio.
Where's the pictures Goldsmithy? Don't know of many .45 ACP's with that kind of price tag! Maybe a high end Kimber, or an original Colt 1911 in pristine condition... Now if you said 45/70 Government, there are a lot of old rifles that bring that kind of cash.
So, finally got off the couch and decided on a Glock 17 Gen 4 17+1. Haven't had a chance to break it in, but have a box of 250 rounds of FMJ round head just staring at me wondering when we get to go out.....lol
Here is my project... Started life as a Ruger 10/22 carbine... however its much better now... this is the Aklys Defense (Formerly Red Jacket Firearms) ZK-22 (Zombie Killer -22)...this was the build featured in the zombie killer episode with mel brook's son... its a full drop in conversion for the 10/22... this sucker is so smooth... uses the standard 10/22 parts but makes it into a bullpup rifle...add a simple bushnell trophy optic and good to go...
Nice looking kit. The triggering are always the hardest thing to get right on conversions kits. I see Joe left them after the show ended. That's good he's the only one that had any sense. I stopped watching after the 2nd season. It was a train wreck
actually Red Jacket is no more... after the owner of RJF was indicted on child sex charges Joe took the company...dissolved it then rebuilt it into 2 companies... Meaux Firearms and Aklys Defense... I had a long convo with joe himself when the kit was delayed so he wanted to call me personally about it... they revamped the kits with stiffer springs and a more durable material
Looks nice. One of the few 22's that a 25(?) round mag doesn't look out of place. Vaguely reminiscent of a P-9. How's the trigger? That's usually where the "Bullpup" conversions fall short. Now you need to get Dick to do a little custom paint work on it.
the trigger on it is smooth as butter and you can fire this thing as fast as you can pull the trigger... I can rip through a 25rd mag in a matter of seconds... and it accepts the stock 10 rd rotory mag, BX25 mag and the 50rd "Coffin" mag... I just installed the Magpul MOE side rails and I have a set of magpul flip up iron sights coming as backup incase the optic goes bad... its really ergonomic and comfortable
it also has an adjustable trigger cam so if you decide to swap the trigger out for a trick one or a match grade all you have to do is readjust the cam
