This is the most fun gun I have ever shot. The round (5.7 x 28) has very little recoil, flat trajectory (up to 100 yds.), and a 50 rd. magazine. Problem is...ammo ain't cheap !!!! Sorta like a MINI...
I bought one of these back in the '80s. It's an Italian made semi-replica of a Russian PPSh-41, in .22 long rifle. Mine came with two 50 round drum magazines. It is a kick in the butt at the range and pretty cheap to shoot.
Aklys made a open bolt version of the ZK-22 aka "Sewing Machine"... [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bs3IpXICUy4"]The October sewing machine!!! All 10 rounds went into a dime size hole! - YouTube[/ame]
Those are fun to shoot for sure. And I was amazed at how nicely the Five Seven pistol fires and it has like a 20 round mag. I would say maybe the recoil of a .22, give or take. I also was able to try out an AR with the 5.7 conversion, that was very nice, though it was odd to have the shell casings ejecting through the mag well.
Ruger on the front line against terror I thought I recognized some of the wood stocked rifles the Paris Police were carrying. But I said, "Nah, couldn't be",:nonod: until I read this. Pretty cool. Not the circumstances, but the rifle. American Rifleman | Keefe Report: Ruger on the Frontline Against Terror
Interesting. Surprised they aren't using surplus MAS-49 MAS-49 I have one rechambered to 7.62 NATO and it a great gun to shoot.
That Ruger is a "select fire" weapon. Would love to get my hands on one. I've never seen a select fire Mini-14 (AC-556).
Picked up my G43 from my LGS today. The new sights are a BIG improvement over the stock units. The grips and extended slide stop work great and the trigger is much smoother now. Now I just need to put 2-300 rounds through it to start breaking it in. Trigger should get even better the more rounds I put through it.
What?! The guy tol me it were a 9 milamater! :eek6: That old .50 cartridge is one of the few things left that I've been dragging from one place to another for the last 50 years.
Went to the gun store with my older daughter. She is going to get her carry permit, so we were looking for a gun for her. The gun expert walks up and ask what I would like to see. I explain and tell him I will be getting her something in 40. The expert tells the neophyte (me) that I should get her a 9 because it has less recoil and is more accurate. Also with newer amunation it just as powerful as a 40. The BS was getting deep. Then he said he and a friend took a 9 and 40 to the range. He said the 40 had about a 10 in. group and then they used the 9 and got about a 3 in. group. So the expert has set me straight and my daughter knows the old man doesent know squat. I thank him for his wealth of knowledge. Here's my answer to him. H&K USP Compact in .40cal I know I have a few flyers Ill try harder next time.
And the answer is?......... Oops! Typed before picture loaded. I too prefer the .40, but it is a bit snappier than a nine in the small pistols. Nice group.
Nice group, was that at 15, 21 or? Still one big ragged hole. Did you shoot that at the gun shop, then present to the expert behind the counter. /snark Anyway, I shoot nine and 380, 40 is snappy for my small weak hands. Of course, so is 357 magnum which I also shoot, that is why I use 38 special at the range. Anyway, nice group. The H&K looks like a great shooter. I like what you did with the Glock 43 Vetsvette, what sights did you install again? Grip looks extra good, I imagine it makes the 43 much easier hold and shoot. Don I really need to get to the range, next week I keep saying.
Hey Don. Thanks, I love the sights. They are Truglo TFO and I knew I would like them because I have them on my Kimber custom .45 and SA XD-45 Tactical. The Talon grip panels do make it a lot easier to control. Had dinner at my Daughter's house today. While the turkey was in the IR turkey frier I put a 100 round box of Winchester white box 115gr FMJ through the G43. This is the first time shooting since the five operations on the left arm and I gotta tell you, I'm waaaay out of practice. Seemed like no matter what I did I was hitting low and to the left at 7-10 yards. They were all on paper, but about 5-7 inches to the 7 o'clock of the bull. Not the sights because my son in law was putting them all on target. Just need more practice I guess. As you would expect from a Glock, the pistol ran great and got better as the round count went up. two or three hundred more rounds and it should be broken in. It shoots (or maybe I should say I) well enough that it's gonna replace the Ruger LCR .357 I've been carrying for the last few months. Felt good to shoot again, but my wrist is begging to differ at the moment. All in all a nice way to spend Thanksgiving. Hope all of y'all had a nice one too.
It was between 15 and 20 yards. I mainly wanted to show my daughter and nephew that you can hit with the 40. It just takes practice. Group shooting is not fun but it is a must. Once you start moving and shooting under stress everything changes.
