The short answer was no. He said no for hand guns then I asked about long guns, he said it depends on what state you live in. I could tell he was suspicious of some guy asking questions over the phone.
Kinda what I thought. I can always buy online from Buds and have it sent to my local. They will do a $10 FFL for me or my range is now an FFL, so that is option. Thanks for making the call MCS02, guess they have to be cautious. If I make it down in May, I will stop and shoot at their range and look around. Nice store I understand. Kinda like Wally World for shooters. Don
Well, I finally pulled the trigger. Ha, see what I did there? I was gifted a CCW class for xmas and decided that if I'm going to take the class, I might as well finally get around to buying myself a gun. I went hoping to leave with a .40 or a .45, but the dude at Vances talked me into a 9mm. I ended up getting a Springfield XD Mod.2 Service. And of course I walked right over to the range from the cash register and burned 50 rounds through it. I must say I am not a terribly huge fan of 9mm, but this gun has won me over. However based on my shot grouping, I really need to practice with it more. But, if for some reason someone decided to come into my house with the goal of being a bad guy, it is safe to say that my shot grouping will ensure that said person never breeds if the survive. My shot grouping seems to be more in the belly and crotchal region.
Sadly I have to wat till March 5th to go take the CCW class since the range the dude does it at is closed till then. But couldn't pass up the deal, I think it was $118 for me and the wife. Not too shabby.
On a side note, Wife went to a "ladies" night shoot at LEPD range here in Columbus recently. She really liked the place. Probably not a good idea for single men to be trying to woo the ladies at these events
Not 100% sure. I know its in Delaware, and the class is held at a Donatos party room, yay free lunch, and then off to the range. Site doesn't say where the range is.
The state park range is on the north side of Delaware State Park. They are closed December to March. I like shooting up there. But if you go on the weekends get there early.
Must be where he does it. Its 6 hours in class and then 2 hours on the range, so I would assume he has something set up in order to accommodate his classes.
I do not know if any of you guys have read about the new Ruger American Pistol? I live outside Washington DC and last weekend they had a very gun show in Chantilly VA. You had to wait in line to get in. The place was packed. I got a Ruger American in 9mm. It is a striker with a nylon frame. The safety is in the trigger, and it feels better to me than the Sig or the Glock. Can't wait to go shoot it. I live 5 miles from the NRA headquarters, but haven't had the time yet.
Sweet looking pistol. If I hadn't just bought two Glocks I would definitely be interested. I'm looking forward to hearing your impressions also.
CarlB, you have to visit the NRA museum. It 's free to the public and has great displays of gun over time from all over the world. We spent almost 3 hours checking everything out a couple of years ago.
With the Obama Gun thing being talked about currently I'd like to ask those that live in states that don't require a pistol permit to buy a hand gun like NC does. When you go to buy a hand gun what do they ask you and or what paper work do you have to fill out. I assume you get the gun right then as you pay for it. No waiting etc??
In Ohio we fill out the ATF form, they run the checks and when it says proceed you pay for the gun and walk out the door with it. I may need to buy another one just to verify that is still how it goes...
Same here. Fill out the ATF 4473 and as soon as the NICS comes back pay for it and walk out the door with your new handgun(s). Usually, by the time I finish browsing the ammo shelves it's ready to go. It may take a little longer if the NICS is backed up.
