Here's an interesting cross-over for driving and shooting enthusiasts. Virginia International Raceway: More than just a racetrack (GoDanRiver.com) Full article here.
I live just down the road from VIR. When they re-opened the track I spent a lot of time there, but haven't been back since they added the high end restaurants, condos, shooting ranges and such. Struck me as more geared to corporate expense accounts than my meager retirement. I've done a few laps in my Vette and I love the track. I used to go to races there in the early 60's before it was closed in '74. I've heard they have some world class ranges, but I live 2 miles from the county gun club and my Daughter has a range in her back yard so I never thought to check them out. Might have to remedy that.
I've got an opportunity to purchase a Mossberg 500 Persuader 12G scatter gun for a great price. Just looking for some friendly advice or guidance from the experts here... The guns never been fired and is reported being sold to pay for some medical expenses.
No expert here, but depending on which variant you got, the Persuader will set you back $300-$400 new. It's a good dependable home defense shotgun and is a less expensive alternative to the Remington 870. If it came with the full butt stock and the pistol grip, I would recommend the full stock. Pistol grip looks cool, but it doesn't give you the accuracy and control that you get with the full stock, and depending on the rounds you're using can be punishing. Just my opinion. YMMV
This one is priced at 275. Sounds like a great price, but was skeptical not purchasing from a shop. Thank you for the info!
Try to get a look at it in person. If it looks good, then I'd say go for it, thats a good price for a nice shotgun. I'd be all over that as I have been wanting one of those for a little while now.
I think I would take it myself for $275 if it's like new. I'm not affiliated with the store, but if you want a new one for a good price you might check Discount Guns for Sale - Buds Gun Shop They have them starting ~$300 including shipping. I bought several guns from them and their prices are hard to beat.

Thanks very much for your input. I've tried to make contact with the seller again without any success. I'll take a look at the website you provided and see what I can find... Again, thank you very much.
I spent a bit of quality time on the indoor range today, shooting for smaller groups with the 22LR (Browning Buckmark) and to run a few more rounds through the Colt Mustang. Any of you shooter who shoot a 380, are you having trouble finding 380 ammo target rounds, 90 grain, FMJ is what I prefer? I do shoot a normal mag of JHP just to see and fell the recoil differences. Going to try a new picture source, since I am shooting more with my iPhone 6. Hope it works. Today's therapy session. Untitled by don_flic99, on Flickr
Haven't had any trouble getting .380 lately. Couple of years ago it was rare as hens teeth, but I have recently bought it from my LGS and also from a flea market in NC. How are you liking the Mustang? I love my P238, but don't get to shoot it very often since my girlfriend started using it for her EDC.
I've been buying my ammo from Palmetto State Armory lately. I wait for the free shipping weekends and then order it.
I had my gunsmith (son) look at my Sig P6 and why it wasn't shooting as accurate as it should. He noticed that the end of the barrel wasn't square, most likely from ware. Being this is a surplus police weapon it didn't surprise me. Now I have to square it and get it crowned and it will be good to go. I'm going to dehorn the frame and slide then dura coat the whole thing while I'm at it.
The crown can be and often is damaged by slipshod cleaning practices. Being a surplus police weapon, I can picture it being cleaned from the muzzle end without a bore guide and/or with a steel cleaning rod. There is a reason they should be disassembled and cleaned from the chamber end. I've known a lot of LEOs over the years and like us, not all are enthusiasts and consequently did not take particularly good care of their weapons. Always, always clean the bore from the chamber end of the barrel. The only exceptions to this, in my case is lever guns and revolvers. In those instances I try to use a bore snake or something similar, or at the minimum, a bore guide. Use a bore guide where appropriate and use a soft (aluminum, brass, carbon fiber) cleaning rod. Sorry to be long winded, but when I worked in a gun shop I saw more than a few nice firearms damaged by ham handed cleaning practices.
Thank you Nathan, use the url option, good to know! A few posts back, I made a snarky comment about using my radar detector case for the Colt, well I though about it some more and today I tried it out, it works. And yes, it all fits in the hidden compartment.
My son like those people. They keep him busy. His favorite is "gun in a bag". Took it apart and can't figure out how to put it together.
