Comparisons A couple things to contemplate. Size matters! These belong to a friend. Missing a few, all part of my friends collection. Something to keep us interested in the last of the cold months.
Today was a trip to the Tanner Gun Show in Denver before our MITM planning meeting. It appears folks still think 22LR bricks are gold plated. I did find CCI MINI MAG 36gr for $16 for 100 count, which is lower than 2 months ago. But Federal Auto-Match 22LR is up around $30 for 325 count boxes. Well guess I gotta shoot so I bought some. Also got some hand loads from a loader I know out of Wyoming 9mm, 38 Special and 357 Mag. At least these were at known reasonable prices. The 357 is for a soon to be at my house Ruger GP100 MC, I will post a picture when I get it. Btw, our WY/CO MINI Club MINICOW hosted a club shoot in Loveland, CO last Sunday, we had a solid 30 shooters and MINIs come out to play. Hard to beat 2 hours of range time for $20, climate controlled and electronic distance range. It was a bit loud, largest was a guy shooting 270 hand loads in his rifle and one guy was doing AR-15 223 rapid fire which was pretty near automatic rate. We had the upstairs 10 lane range, so that sounded like ping-pong, glad I had both sets of ear dampers in for this one, plugs and muffs. Have a great weekend.
It is a North American Arms .22 mag."Black Widow". It is my get the hell off me gun. Talk about a MINI gun...
Ask promised previously. Road trip with the Golden and the Countryman today, up to the store in Loveland to get the Ruger they had been holding for me. You can see a set of pictures here, I will let you all know how much it hurts after I visit the range in a few days. I got more rounds of 38 special for target, I figure this will be a low mileage firearm. Ruger GP100 MC pictures. And one picture for those who do not click links because you could wind up on the not Prima 'HYDRO MAX' website, see the messages in "What did you do with your MINI Today" for the reference. The GP100 feels right, nice grips and great wood, finish is excellent, big revolver, great weight, should keep the kick in check. Range report soon! Don
I shoot 5.7, 9mm, .22, and .308 calibers. When I'm not shooting, I like to 'mod' (customize) the North American Arms line of revolvers. Here is a picture of my latest. It is a 1 5/8" barrel, 22 Mag revolver. It is fully engraved (including grips) and set with aprox. .75 carets of diamonds set in 14kt gold. And, yes, I still shoot it...
Wow, so your screen name is your line of work, nice engraving. Is this part of your collection or are you gifting it to "me". Intricate detail!
I'm always amazed at the quantity of guns folks own in the US. A chap at work has around 15 nice pistols, revolvers etc. Any would be invading Zombie army does not stand a chance against the home guard. LOL My fav gun is that big thing Clint Eastwood carries. Magnum I believe. Another question: Is that that big ass gun in the Hercules used in the Transformer movie real? A10 Warthog is my fav flying gun.
I helped a buddy move and we filled a full sized Dodge pick up with a Gem top right to the top with guns and ammunition. He was a serious collector of military weapons from the civil war to present.
Recently saw R. Lee Ermey shoot the .50 S&W on his TV show. They showed it in superslowmo and the shock wave going through his wrist and arm were unbelievable. Can't believe his arm didn't break.
Clints revolver was a Smith and Wesson model 29 with I believe the 8 5/8" barrel. And yes, the big assed gun on the Spectre AC130 gunship is real. It's a 105mm Howitzer along with a Boffors 40mm cannon and a Vulcan cannon.
Went to the range today, the Ruger GP100 shoots very nice, the 357 loads I had were a bit hot, the 38 specials were good for target plinking. My shots with it were all over the target, guess I will have to relearn the proper hold for a revolver. Had one issue, new shooter rookie thing, not doing a complete cycle of the trigger, thus I got the cylinder to hang a couple of times. Got it worked out. All I can say is fun to shoot, very different shooting 5 or 6, reload, shoot again. I did bring the Beretta 9mm along, just for the exercise. The PX4 Storm compact is very accurate when shooting at about 15-21 feet with my old eyes. Btw, I like a big gunship.
The next great gun ship! Sikorsky S-97 RAIDERâ„¢ Helicopter - The Next Big Thing In Army Aviation There is another development 2 seat version that would put the Apache out pasture
Spent some more quality time with the Ruger GP 357 Mag. this afternoon. Trying to bring my meager skills to be consistent. Shooting 158 grain 38 Spec for my range rounds, I have found the Magtech 158 grain to be a good range round and not excessively expensive for a box of 50. A teaser shot, I did pop off a few Federal 357 rounds today, just to compare, these are pretty good rounds too. The Magtech 38 spec. is the smaller. of the two! These target picture can be found in the album, I had one of the range officers shoot 6 rounds for grins, he put them in the center and top of center at 25 feet, so the GP is right on.
I love my .357. it's accurate and reliable. I got it in '84 because the .38 was so cheap and the .357 wasn't bad either. Sort of like what 9mm is now. It is the gun my wife learned with.
