There was guy that used to post here named Nathan. I got stuck behind his MINI on a drive once. Wow I have never smelled more carp coming out of a car in my life. No cat & running rich as all get out. My car picked up 10 extra HP breathing in all the unburned fuel in the air. It got to be a local joke not to get behind Nathan's car. :Dead:

Just be lucky you did not walk behind him, that smell was worse.

it’s good to hear the opinion of some guys I trust. Chuck is correct where I live I don’t have to worry about the cat. I am running Motul 5w40. What other additives would be good? Also their are some that say if the oil I’d 160F after the oil, coolers this is to cold and that’s the problem. What do you guys think?

I had a 67 Elan S/E many moons ago, tried to make it a daily driver, kind of like herding cats. Didn't work but I got
    it out of my system.

Yea the scary thing about the cam problem is on the Lotus forums guys have had it happen with as little as 600 miles. Some of the Celica guys have seen this but not very many. Nether do the MR2's or the European Lotus owners. It seems to mainly be a problem for the US cars. Those ore the only ones with oil coolers, two of them up front.
    we will see what happens.

Double whammy for old LBC cars. Wear the cam out due to modern oil & valve recession due to no lead gas. Luckily both are relatively easy fixes.

Yes Lee is on the right track. ZDDP & oil temp before wailing on that bad boy.

Today I finally got the car together and running. I went for test ride but it started raining so I only got a block or so before I had to head home.

It wasn't the car, which is from England [a land where rain is as common as grits to a southerner]. It was the driver.

Well the smart driver left the top at home. The Exige has a hard top that bolts on, when you take it off there is no place to put it in the car. Go figure :D

This is true, I've driven roadsters in the rain. Trouble is when you stop you tend to get very wet.
