I got to climb around that JCW at Fontana. They let us start it up and rev it, and poke around under the bonnet, which was nice.
I look forward to getting mine when they start making the manual transmission [next month supposedly]. Having owned 5 prior MINI's that made up a wide swath of conceptual states of tune [from basically stock to wildly modified engine and suspension, and a few in-between] from the previous two generations, I do feel like I'm in a good position to have a wide perspective to flesh out what this new model is all about.
Oh, and I'm getting Midnight Black with a Chili Red roof.![]()

I'm not into all the electronics as they drive me bonkers but I'm sure there are lots of folks who absolutely gots to have them, on the good side I will say the seats look really nice.

There was one being driven by folks from MINI at Fontana. It is a handsome MINI, I for one like the looks in the Black/Red combo.
I'm also glad that Ryephile is getting his hands on one. We'll get a real honest view from a true enthusiast.-

After reading through the BMW F30 LCI press release and comparing the nitty gritty with the F56 [including JCW] press releases, it appears the Bimmer's will now share the MINI's engines like so:
318i [not for USA]: B38 3-cylinder turbo, same as Cooper
320i: B48A 4-cyl turbo w/11.0:1 compression ratio, same as Cooper S
330i: B48B 4-cyl turbo w/10.2:1 compression ratio, same as JCW
This will bode very well for the future of MINI performance, since the BMW aftermarket is historically bigger than MINI. Good news indeed.-

all that blather but not a word on price...

Go build one on MINIUSA.com. -
MINI tends to leave out the pricing with these Press Kits.

My local dealer got his first JCW in this week (red over black) and the shop was just finishing up full-body coverage of all the black body panels with XPEL Stealth flat material. The end result was absolutely breathtaking, and so was the price - $5,000. And even in flat black, the front end also was, uh, breathtaking.
BTW, MSRP was over $41,000.
No, there are no pictures - you just have to see the Stealth effect in person. -
A shift point indicator in the head-up display sounds good, though restricting it to the JCW is typical Mini meanness.
