Found the forum by dumb luck. (most of my luck is like that). Bought a 2003 R53 in July 2019 just for the MTTS in 2020. After that.... who know may keep driving it, may upgrade to a newer generation. OR park it until the next rally.

Or you could start modding it. The R53 is the best Mini to mod.

    Welcome to MA

Google search for N18 valve gasket replacment. First result was a tutorial from here. Shockingly well put together tutorial I may add (Clear & Concise). No way I'd pass up joining a site that leads off with well put together tutorials.

    Thanks MCS & Dave.

    2013 Roadster S.
No mods yet. Have a Misfire on Cyl 4. Waiting for new plugs & in the meantime (today) testing compression, pop’n off the valve cover for inspection, and purchasing equipment to walnut blast the valves

I have a 2012 JCW coupe.Roasters are great cars I drove one before I bought my coupe. I almost bought it but when I told my wife my plans for it she said thats what had been done to the coupe. I got it from one of the members here, he did a great job modding it.
Have you tried swapping out the coil pack to see if the miss fire follows the one in Cyl. 4?I had one go bad under hard acceleration just before redline. I thought I had bent a valve. I limped home checked the compression, it turned out to be one coil pack.

That I did. Then ODB code Multiple. 1 time. And I didn’t repeat it. I paused. Decided to swap spark plugs. The plugs were sinful black so I (for giggles) hit em with a light sandpaper then put them back in. Hit start and this time I got Cylinder 2.
I just finished a compression test (10 cycles each) with an even 140 across all 4.
So I’m hoping like hell its my plugs.
Guess I could pull the coil packs, pull the fuse pump fuse, rack a plug back into the coil to see if I get spark ‍♂️
