Glad you are OK Paul...as you say it could have been so very much worse.

Terrible thing to happen on the most glorious of weather days we have had here in the Triangle in quite some time.

Damn shame about the car...hope it works out OK for you...as you know I'm close by so let me know if there is anything I can do...

    Best Regards,
    Cliff

    Crap!!!
Glad to hear you are reasonably well...heck...just living through that wreck you did fine...
Not sure if i have ever seen a picture of a MINI in worse shape that everybody survived without SERIOUS Injures...guess that means the seats, harness, and rollbar did their jobs!!
Looks like another MINI dies a glorious death so the owner could live...would have loved (not sure that is the correct term if you know where I am going) too see that wreck on video...
Good luck finding a replacement.... Guess the new car will have parts of 2+ other dead cars being kept alive on it...might have to rename the new car "Frankenstein" or incorporate it into the name!!

OMG, Paul...what a scary way to test your safety equipment! :frown2: At least you know it works, though. I'm sure glad you came out of this pretty much unscathed, and am wishing you all the best in your recovery and beyond!

Really sorry for your troubles Paul. Like another member, when I saw the first picture I thought it was a joke. I'm sorry it wasn't. I guess there is never a "good" day to test your safety equipment. Thankfully you came out relatively unscathed and you're already planning your comeback.

Well, that's one way to test your handiwork...

    Glad you're ok, at least!

Like everyone else, I'm relieved you're OK and a little sad about the car. Clearly the execution of your GPR design vision is crash-worthy; a testament to your clear thinking. You've provided such great reading, viewing and inspiration that I know everyone here is hoping you'll continue when able. I'm sure I write for more than just myself when I say I look forward to your posts not only as entertainment but for learning, on many levels. This is a good time to say 'Thanks' for all that. Heal soon.

Keep at it CCT before you know it, you'll just tell Jan to keep your car and to send you your own X-1! [emoji12]

Depends on the dynamics of the roll-over... But when you face-plant the full momentum of the car on the windshield header like I think I did... It doesn't stand a chance.

I thought we were talking "additional, beyond factory" rollover protection.

    Glad you made it!

Unsolicited advice: Even if it is just the tires I would chuck the wheels too. Enkei aren't the strongest by any stretch (learned this first hand with my own close call) and there is no way they would be up to a track day after that, especially given you work your car pretty hard!

5 percent on the street, 95 percent on the track, stronger is better, stay limber. :)

WOW :eek6:, that was a nasty crash! Glad you're OK and only the car needs to be rebuilt.

I'm not up on all of the Borg details, but can a Borg be assimilated by another? If so, will Locutus have a new name, or will he be the one doing the assimilating of the new donor body? :confused5:

I think the consciousness / personality is what gets the name. Brain, heart, lungs, and other vital organs will all be the same. Just swapping exoskeletons.

"Unable to determine rate of speed at this time."

    61E691A0-C9CE-4EF5-B50D-B925583BE0C1_zpsuzbd9i9z.jpg

Officer got everything right except what happened after the primary impact... I flew the car upside down for 28 feet and impacted the left rear corner, never landed on the right side as the report says.

Insurance adjuster is gonna HATE this report.

Apparently, no Certificate of Achievement for me.

Some of the stuff I'd ask Jan about, save yourself trouble down the road (for example I'd get the dual pass radiator now since you need to replace it anyway).
