They almost failed me today for a tiny lower exhaust gasket leak (because I had temporarily swapped the GP OEM header back in...) Only got passed because I could prove I had one on the way to fix it... Even though that header is coming back off the car tomorrow.
This thread made me think of this just now. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWHniL8MyMM"]Johnny Cash One Piece At A Time - YouTube[/ame]
Today swapped back to my RMW header (after putting the stocker on for two days to get past inspection). Also repainted some engine bay furniture... Left the decal on the strut bar... so now I have this cool raised paint effect.... Also got my meth system reinstalled and working. After watching IAT's over the past week when I'm "on it", I decided I can use the cooling. Played around with cruise control but no success with that yet. I've driven over 700 miles in the past two weeks... clutch is broken in. Only 68 miles to go, to 076900...
Today, swapped my outer exhaust hanger brackets, left side to right side, and vice versa. Fixed a bracket-on-bracket rattle I've had since I installed the Milltek. Finished buttoning up the engine bay. I think I'm done working in there for a while. Engine and all wiring are like they need to be right now. Doing the bay repaint was a good thing, it led me to strip out all the extraneous wiring, and what I put back (meth and horns) I did a much more professional job on. Everything looks neat now. Just needs a bath after pollen season is over. Motored for about 50 miles. I love it. Haven't looked back at the PDC stuff, but will tomorrow (THANKS Richard for the wiring diagram help!)
Damn.....that is going to be a head turner. You should be proud! I have a set of those horns on my work bench, any hints on the install of them?
Tap into one existing horn wire for signal to the relay trigger. Power to an inline fuse, to the main fusebox 12v connector. Ground to the ground stud near the main body harness connector (the round one). Then run ground and the output wire from the relay to the two horns in parallel. I run a pair of wires across the inside of the front bumper to get to the passenger side horn. I have to pull that wire back out each time I remove the bumper, but saved me from having to route it all the way around the back of the bay. I found a spot to mount mine on the cone-shaped bosses in the area where the original horns were installed. It's tight, but it fits.
It's not designed to supply enough power to operate the Hella Supertones at full volume. And the horns may draw enough current to damage the stock harness. Hence the use of a relay and dedicated wiring, only using the OEM wiring to trigger the relay.
Year 769 (DCCLXIX) was a common year starting on Sunday. King Charlemagne (Charles "the Great") begins a military campagne against Aquitaine and Gascony. Hersfeld Abbey (modern-day Hesse-Nassau), Germany is founded by Lullus, archbishop of Mainz 769 is a telephone area code for central Mississippi. Egbert, king of Wessex was born. Alan of Farfa, Aquitanian scholar, hermit and homilist died.
Got my new set of Star Specs installed today, and a more aggressive alignment. And received the rest of the parts, decals, and badges I need for my repaint. Also received a ton of trim clips... for trim... And these custom decals, from my awesome friend N2MINI... Silver reflective vinyl...
Trim clips? MINI must be in short supply of them after me last month! GPR769 Sticker looks great, but I would move it to the body after paint.
