I'll get with you and come down some Saturday this summer to drive your Virginia twistys and let you get behind the wheel...
Paul, missed meeting you but thanks for the great price on the wind deflector. Well, I did see you once when you blew by me like I was standing still. I would tell you what road it was...but I was on so many I don't remember
I drove Bill's car back from Robbinsville after we had Lunch and I can honestly say the 1.8 RMW stroker engine not only makes power but the Torque down low and across the curve is just effing INSANE! The motor runs very smooth all the way from idle to 8K and it never sounds like it breaking a sweat even when you get to red line at 8,500 RPM. It PULLS like a beast and will close in on anyone or anything in front of you very quickly. You don't have to downshift you just mat the "go" peddle and boom you are on someone's rear bumper. In a passing zone in the flat area coming back from Lunch I passed 2 cars & 2 pickups at one time like they were standing still. Damn you JAN :mad2: Now I want a 1.8 with a TVS.
I can attest to this... that Whaler car moves with quite a bit of gumption. And sticks like glue, too.
It has Colin's Greene Performance coil overs on it with great tires. BC Racing Coilovers with Swift Springs and Custom Revalve – Greene Performance
Since this is MY THREAD, the real question is, would I run them on the GP Roadster? I would, if I didn't already have a very, very good setup. The other question is, would I run the stroker in the GP Roadster? Check is going in the mail tomorrow, GP engine is going on a truck later this week. The rest of you... send Jan money, or shut up about it. 1.8 stroker, Stage 2 head w/27mm exhaust valves, high-lift dominator cam, 550cc injectors Built for future TVS upgrade I also have Jeff Howerton building me a custom meth setup.
Yep... Same engine setup I have wanted for a couple years... No $$$ to make it happen though, but I can hang! (A rear tire 2 feet above the Dragon's pavement...)
This sounds familiar...I sent the whole car though. Thing is, when its TVS time, you're going to want either a FMIC or W2a (I'd vote FMIC hands down on your car).. I was going to do meth, but for a variety of reasons bailed on it.
Yeah, I talked it through with Jan a few days ago. I'll probably do an AC delete and the FMIC. Assuming I get that far. I'm looking forward to seeing how things are, when everything else is done and I'm still on the stock blower, meth and GP IC. Maybe I'll be done then. Maybe not.
Stock blower, meth, GP intercooler on a Stroker is pretty damned nice, and if your tuned for meth...Although on a Stroker, I would just use meth to cool, but that's just me. The issue is you're becoming a track rat, and it's unlikely you'll be able to run meth on the track. Definitely not 100% without some serious modification to your car (think dedicated fuel cell, which is easy, behind a separate bulkhead, which is not so easy). If you can now, enjoy it while it lasts, because I've seen many groups get rid of it, even 50/50, which isn't even combustible. You shouldn't need meth with the mother of all FMIC's Jan is putting in. Car should run safely cool all day long. What I'm trying to gently say is that if you're considering the TVS, maybe forego the custom meth kit and put the money toward that. Just an unasked for opinion, sorry... Maybe you'll be done? That's bullfeces and we all know it. It's not a matter of if but when. I'll take maybe not for the win.
Yes, I would put Colin's coil overs on my car. The GPness is a sweet ride and will look awesome when it's all completed and painted.
Not fast enough? Sounds fast now, will this stroker be in the GPness for 2016? Nice! Had to go back a few pages and read this twice. Don
I heat good stuff about the Rally R50 with the 1.8L. they just won another rally.....back the MOTD you guys had way too much fun....lol
After two days of trying, motor finally made it on a truck at 8:30 tonight. On the way to meet Jan and his team.
