you should just fly out here and do a test on it at one of the tracks:devil: Blimey...........job well done.......... this is going to be awesome when finished. I'll get Ian to do an article on it in Motorwerks magazine
Thanks.... It MIGHT be the fastest first gen MINI cabrio on the planet. It will certainly be the coolest.
Put my strut brace back on, added some oil, and drove it another 55 miles. With fury, but low revs. Getting even stronger, I think.
Break in on ours was start it, warm it up, do the short drive, change the oil and then the next day drove 200 mi to Vegas to go to Wuste and AMVIV. It was 200 mi. of yo-yo driving. Had it changed there and did the same thing on the way home. I'm sure a lot of people were wondering why we kept racing up and then dropping back over and over again. It got 400 mi out of the way fast though.
Yep, that's a quick way to do it. Gonna have to bang mine out 50-100 miles a day for the next week. Then get it tuned... I have a date at the track on 8/23 to really see what it can do... :fingers crossed: Working on finishing Zeitronix, Aquamist and brake duct installs over the next few days.
Gross Estimate: 250-300 HP, 180-250 TQ  I'm not even attempting to get closer than that. The numbers will tell the tale. But I'm not even taking it to the dyno for a while. Jan is going to tune it using data logs on the road. More real-world than tuning on the dyno.
Street tuned cars are often better all around drivers than just doing pulls on a dyno. Street tuning gives the tuner a better database to build the new mapping off of, by giving better real world conditions. Only problem with street tuning is that it has to be done in secret because even a 3rd gear pull in an R53 takes you above the highest posted speed limit in the country.
Drove some more late today. Ambient temps were about 20 degrees cooler. Managed to get up to about 12.8PSI boost. The car is even stronger at lower ambient temps, as expected. But I think it's getting stronger as it breaks in. It's a beast even with the stock blower.
With my family medical history, I really need to hang on to all my parts... I could probably use some spares in all actuality.
You coukd always consider selling an organ of yours that doesn't work, something slightly below your kidneys but intimately involved with draining them.
