1st Time Claybarring! Washed, claybarred, washed, then finished off w/Banana Gloss on Scoopie yesterday. First time (& possibly last, 4 as long as it took!) doing that on ANY car I've owned. :crazy: The entire session (including Black Wow) took a little over 6 hours ... whew! However, she was just a'shinin' when we left 2 come home afterwards. Tradeoff 4 all my hard work? Well, had an older gentleman stop by 2 admire her 2day at the local Target. He said she was 'gorgeous!' He also mentioned that he had a Mini back in the '70s!

I have an off MINI question for the great car detailing GURU's. Is there any thing safe for an amateur to do to OLD car paint? It crazed in places but not chalky. 1957 Jaguar original paint that has lived in a garage all its life. The owner is unable to care for the car and I just want to clean it up for him.

No, it's from the trees, the husk things on the leaf buds. Cleaned right up. Hopefully going to Banana Gloss both the MINIs today. Mark
Great looking Jag, love that body style Well you can always wash it with no fear. You could also clay it. A light cleaner/polish would be good to do, then a coat of your favorite wax. The clay will take on the colour of the paint, as will any towels/pads you use, not a big deal, but it may not wash out of them. Mark
I had a couple of MINI buddies over for a garage day on Friday, and one parked under the big ash tree on the curb while we worked on another in the garage. It rained hard off and on the whole day, but by 4pm or so when we rolled out of the garage it was sunny and cool. As my buddy got into his car to leave, he saw the entire windshield was covered in white bird bombs, not just little spots either - 6" splats! :eek6: Fortunately it all washed off easily and somehow missed the paint - just hammered the windshield!

Going to wash the heavy layer of pollen off both MINIs today, the BRG does not look to bad, but the white roof is now lime green. Then get stuff ready for the club detailing clinic, which I'm going to do tomorrow at our place. Mark
