I wave at the police too. Especially when they run out in the road and wave at me. I just don't thank I should take my hands off the wheel at those speeds. :arf:  They should know better. :biggrin5: :biggrin5:

A few days after I got my MCS I was cruising down the highway late at night, and another MINI flew by me honking and waving! It was so exciting. I had heard about the wave and have been doing my part, but I've never gotten the same response. I even saw a guy in the same year/color combo but he wanted nothing to do with my wave.

Till I have a day to fix my Mini I've been driving the spare car. Its a 1988 Acura Integra. I have caught myself starting to wave every time I see a Mini.

IMO, "The Wave" is a Jeep thing and has a very long history (began during WWII). I've owned a few Jeeps over the years and I would feel like I'm stealing or insulting a piece of the Jeep culture, so I don't wave and if I do it's a Jeep wave--2 or 4 fingers raised from the steering wheel.
But that's just me, wave if you want.-

In the 1950s USA, most British car drivers (MGs, Triumphs, and Healeys) and ALL Porsche drivers waved at each other (Porsche drivers kept it up until the 1980s).
It's great that CJ and Wrangler folks wave, but they didn't begin it, and it ain't exclusive with them.
Wave On!-

I also flash ... :ihih:... my lights. If it gets their attention it usually results in waves.
I like having a car that not to many people have, so I have always thought MINIs acknowledging another MINI was pretty cool.-

I'm thinking neither... Dave's keeping both hands on the wheel as he said.... But somehow he's able to "moon" them as he passed by... So he can't be wearing his seatbelt which is somewhat disturbing...

That's funny right there Dave! I use one up against the driver's glass so I don't get too distracted by a lengthy arm movement. It's sort of a patented move of mine, but we're all friends here...
Remember now, it's Justa quick flip of the wrist and elbow that snaps that bird right up against the glass. Hold for 3-5 seconds, then release back to the wheel. Try it, you'll like it.-
