I've said it before and I'll say it again, everyone in a MINI gets a wave... Those more deserved (not usually a MINI driver) might just get the single finger up against the glass! Depends on how I feel at the moment. :beer

 

I would love to wave at other MINI drivers .... but my Roadster S is on order in England. If you saw me waving from my Budget rental car (Fiat 500), you would think I was a crazy Italian lost on the shores of America!

 

Don't be mean, Mark. Fiats are not all THAT bad, IMO, but they should have stayed in Europe.

 

The 500's just look like smart cars ..... Meaning they look stupid.

I had a lady and her daughter wave at me at the local Burger King today. I think that make the second to wave at me including the old guy on Stringtown road that waved to me from his awesome classic mini. It's was brg with a Union Jack on top. It was even right hand drive. Very nice ride.

The ultimate MINI wave ....

 

I just don't think waving is brand specific it just says, "Hey! I noticed you have the same car as me so you are my brethren." And being on this site one should know we have are own social club so waving is like inviting people to join us.

Now if Honda drivers started doing it then I would worry about my own safety as their hands would never be on the steering wheel. :wink:

 

I was shocked the other day. A guy in a BRG Mini waved at me the other day up at Easton! I was so shocked that all I could do in return was nod. Granted I was also turning at the time, but I was still shocked.

 

When I was test driving my mini I noticed the "jeep wave" seems to apply to minis also. I thought "oh no, it's gonna be 'HEY SAME CAR' every time I pass one in traffic, just like when I had my jeep".

 

I kinda felt a little bad I didn't wave back.

 

I don't wave at all because I like my car and keep both hands on the wheel. No I do not use my phone in my car nor do I text.

Also most people have one hand on the wheel and another on the phone or coffee so if wave they may hit me. :mad2:

One more thing, I hate when people wave to other MINI's while you are at MOTD either on The Dragon even on Hellbender where most people crash. People should be paying attention to the road and not driving and waving to every MINI they see like they are a princess on a Macy's Thanksgiving day float.

If you want to wave at MINI's at MOTD drive around Fontana at 15 mph and wave your hands off.

I use the sunroof so I don't have to take off my seat belt and I can keep both eyes on the road.
