Corection.... as it gets closer Heading out from Ca to Midwest then to DC So almost... Not quite The W E* For now I'm adding DC Charlotte Nashville Louisville Chicago Des Moines + Remainder back 2 LA
OK, you got there. Now what? For those doing the whole thing, assuming you have to return to the East Coast, what's your proposed route? For those starting on the West, what's your route to NJ? We're looking at LA to San Francisco via Pacific Coast Highway. From there we plan on heading out I-80 toward Salt Lake City, then north to Rapid City, then head east. Any recommendations for stuff to see and do, between SF and Salt Lake City, or SLC and Rapid City? Or along I-90 east of Rapid City? (I know about Badlands, Wall Drug, and the various spots around Rapid City). -Jim
nice looking badge... well, us simpler folks just have to shell out the $25 for the official MTTS badge LOL (and X2 minis...I wish I were crafty!) pac:cornut:
Official MTTS Badge... I wasn't aware of an official MTTS Badge. Where can I find it to purchase? Mine are temporary, made from Avery magnetic sheets. Stick really good at speed. Easily removed to wash and wax. Although easily removed by those who have sticky fingers too. Already had one disappear on me. Didn't blow off, it was there when I parked, and not when I came back. A link to the purchasable Badge would be much appreciated. TIA
You should add something distinctive - like your initials - within the design of the ones you make. So if you happen to see it on someone else's car you can claim it back. The official badge won't be available until MTTS starts. Assuming they produce them, like they did for MTTS 2010.
That did cross my mind at one point. Then I reminded myself of "Karma", if someone takes one, what three things will they LOSE. Also, I have put my mind to rest with KNOWING that it is going to happen. So.........ehh.
Heading out in the Morning... Finally.... Its time for me to hit the road. Leaving bright and early tomorrow morning. Change of plans today, going to forego my planned lunch of Rib Tips @ Tom's Bar-B-Q in Memphis. Knoxville, TN will be my stopping point tomorrow evening. SO...... I thought "The Dragon"! Now taking the Southerly 20/59 route. Sorry Rib Tips, twisty win every time.
Nathan -- Good Reminder to check AND re-CHECK the weather... ================== Ran into bad weather last night enroute.... MTTS - GO EAST TO GO WEST *Th--> Southern CA to Las Vegas, NV I15 - ** No Traffic/ got into LV very Late... Ok costed more to stop there  *Fr --> LV to Grand Junction, CO I15 to I70 (AZ, UT, CO) -w0w Breathtaking --------- Besides a few bugs/ car had a few stops to clean the windshield *SAt --> Grand J to Colby KS -- -------> Rockies spectacular views/topography -- I70 Vail * Breckenridge Etc What a view & then some fun curves... Watch for Policia (A few in Vail and enroute) And Bugs galore! The most dirtyiest car I ever had... Stop in Colby KS - Washed the car at Car/Wash *** news report 7-9pm storm (Exactly as indicated on the tube)--------------------------- Well OMG*F ---- A storm came in the whole view from the Hotel Room: * Dust storm / Thunder / Lighting striking close the big Farm Towers * Light Poles Shaking/ swaying seeing that it would be heading toward MINI * Electricity (Looked up KS worst Tornado's on the Internet--"Y" route I70 shows up a few times... So neverless car was dirty again (Duststorm, Thunder/Lightning/Rainstorm) ------------------------ *Sun finally in KC Car Wash (to cleanup the dirty duststorm & bugs ( So working the next two dats - Monday/Tuesday in Kansas City at a client site) ----------------------- So from there it's open & have reservations in both INDY and LOUISVILLE (Need to cancel one by tomorrow)" I have a question to the group: From KC To DC (Stop2) - Would anyone recommend the Northern I70 Pittsburg or I70/I64 Louisville/Lexington Southern Route? Not for twisties but just to catch up (Night Driving/ Traffic/Toll/Road Repair), easier etc... Any suggestions/ comments would be great (May need to stop then in INDY or Louisville)? Thanks in advance?
Funny but I drove KC to NE PA in one shot coming home from MTTS 2010 No nab, just a few quick pullovers for some shut eye It was about 18+ hours of driving and I used a more Northern route (I80) than you will need but here is a cardinal rule about driving thru PA Avoid it at all costs, construction and semis crawling up one lane mountain road closures on the interstates You might want to stay south pac
P* thanks for the TIP... Sounds like the crawl/truckers up a highway is no fun... South "1" ------- Now, I checked the weather.com has a lot of Rain forcast (Hopefully that changes)
The cool thing about the I-70 is the road and the tunnel. That's the only cool thing.:biggrin5: I'd follow Fred's advice and go the southern route. See ya on the route!
:beer Mahalo - THank you! Now, I've been to KC BBQ ("Oklahoma Joe's & Jack Stack), so it's much sweeter sauce... and I guess the MLB All Star's are coming next week too I even stopped by Baron MINI (JCW Key Chain, Rubbish bag, etc..) Ready to head out tonight though...
