I don't talk like that anymore; it's too seductive. Whenever I do, my wife ends up pregnant. I'm pretty sure they're all mine.

Zippo's not only light things, they also doubled as a roach clip.

I kinda knew what you meant. I just don't get to use phrases like "Au contraire, mon ami" often. I took advantage of the opening.

Ever had a Zippo leak fluid while in your pocket? Even without igniting, it will leave a nice chemical burn on your thigh.

Then, after I took it out of my pocket for a few days, my nephew stole my Zippo! That was 40 years ago and I've not had another one since. Time to go Zippo shopping! (I think one of Gibbs Rules is Always carry Fire, so there, I have a rationalization.)

It seems to me, the average age of the usual suspects on this site, is roughly 50, and thus should be familiar with the iconic Zippo.

The average maturity, thats a different story... :D

To demonstrate the collective majority of everyone who knows what a Zippo is, we ought to start a thread on the five most unique items you've used your Zippo on, legal or illegal...:mad5:

This story shows the versatility of the good old, faithful Zippo.

I was on bunker guard one night and ran out of fluid in the Zippo. So, I took an M16 round and worked the projectile back and forth until it came out. Then I poured the powder out of the cartridge, into a small pile on the sand bag and stuck the end of a cigarette into the pile. Next I kept spinning the wheel on the Zippo, until the spark from the flint set off the powder and lit the cigarette. Try that with a Bic.

So how long did it take you to smoke that 7 footer?

Something like that, you should have taken it home and decorated it like a christmas tree.

Yup, back pocket while driving!! Pulled into a fast food establishment, ran to the bathroom, pants down, splashin' water on my butt. Never went back to that Taco Bell again!! From then on Zippo always pointed "up" when in my pocket.

This one I held onto after my Navy days, 25 yrs ago!!

Anybody who stood any number of four hour deck watches could work a Zippo pretty much like many of those tricks. Gotta do sumptin to pass the time. How 'bout smoke a Camel about half way down and curl your lip and tongue back and close your mouth over it for a spell.

My one regret from quitting smoking is that I no longer carry a zippo.

I'm not talking average for the whole site, I'm talking averages for the people on the site that post in irreverent threads such as these.

I suspect people who post requesting info about the car are much younger (they don't know everything in the universe yet, like the rest of us do), pulling the overall average of the site down, while at the same time somewhat paradoxically bringing the maturity level of the site up.

A few years ago I was ebay-ing a bunch of items for a RJ Reynolds employee who had 20 boxes of misc Camel, Smoking Joe, shirts, pool sticks, signs, and of course Zippos. Some of those give away Zippos sold for hundreds of dollars.

Had one or two zippos back in the 60s, they came in handy for this and that.

Nowadays here in Colorado, thinking if 12 7 footers would be a good deal. :)

I gave up smoking cigs in 1966, I do like a good pipe or cigar to this day. :) :)
