...in hell for me for thinking this is funny. But sheesh, see what happens when you don't check facts properly. I give you a Ron Burgundy moment [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1JYHNX8pdo"]Asiana Pilots names from KTVU News - YouTube[/ame]
Then there is one of those Taiwanese animations that makes fun of the US news. NOT WORK SAFE It gets really weird! [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dqu8WD8Lkuo]KTVU reports "Ho Lee Fuk" and "Wi Tu Lo" as Asiana pilots - YouTube[/ame]
I've seen the news clip with the names. I also heard that Asiana Airlines is seeking legal recourse from the tv station.
I too thought that was funny as hell......even better after finding out the station got the names confirmed by some unpaid intern at the FAA/NTSB!!!
I thought it was very funny. How stupid do you have to be to believe the names are real! I'm sure the guy at the NTSB thought it was a joke. The joke is on the press that act as if they know more then us little people. What a bunch of chumps! ut: And before some one tells me not to laugh at this or I'm insensitive. I fly large aircraft for a living. I've had friends hurt in aircraft and lost a couple in accidents. My heart goes out to the passengers and crew. Excepcaly to the pilots who's life will be a living hell from now on.
Hella funny & very sad all at the same time. The stupidity it took for that to get on air is beyond my comprehension. ut:
My thought is that this all ties into the 24/7 news cycle and all the competition local stations are getting from cable and internet news outlets. So in their zeal to be first with information, they are seldom the best A government agency confirmed it so it must be accurate? Really. And the best part-the station just leaves logic and common sense at the door in order to get the pilot's names out to the public first.... Journalism is a lost art, and I really fear it will never be re-discovered.
Colbert weighs in on the issue. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XtpYGHJ34w]The Colbert Report 07/15/13 Naming the Pilots - YouTube[/ame]
LaughedMFAOff when I first saw this a few days ago! Am I going to that special place? Likely and I'm guessing I'll see so many friends there too one day... Not at all surprised someone has found time to bring another worthless suit to the table.
You probably remember KTVU’s royal eff up with reading obviously fake Asian names for the pilots of the Asiana crash. Names like “Wi To Lo” and “Ho Lee Fuk”. It looks like a Korean news agency is having some fun at KTVU’s expense. After the landing gear failure of the Southwest flight at LGA they showed this graphic with American pilot names “Captain Kent Parker Wright”, “Co-Captain Wyatt Wooden Workman”. They even went as far as making up fake names for people to interview. Flight instructor “Heywood U. Flye-Moore” and skeptical passenger “Macy Lawyers”. Well played Korean TV, well played.
