Well, my next project is going to be even cooler, but I had to sell Buzz in order to fund it. I was lucky that Buzz found exactly the right new owner and is having a grand time....
Buzz made it all the way to Metropolis - about 750 miles in one day with no issues.......well one. He said the clutch started acting up towards the end of the day, but after he let it rest a bit it started working fine again. He said Buzz musta been telling him he was getting tired..... :beer Tomorrows drive will be much shorter......
Buzz is an awesome car, but I think the new build is going to have it beat. On a side note Metropolis IL absorbed a little of my money on the way back from the Dragon this year... Jack wasn't doing his job very good on Cop Watch. I probably payed to repaint part of that statue! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Justin and Buzz made it to Holiday, Ohio today, just under 500 miles.....he says the clutch problem was just down to the pedal needing some lube and the car ran perfectly all day.......tomorrow Detroit!
They managed to catch up to the group, and there have been Buzz sightings all over Facebook today! All these pics were taken by different people, including the selfie at the end! :biggrin5:
They're leaving St. Ignace this am in 50* temps heading for Minneapolis (Edit: Green Bay, then Minneapolis) I believe. I've had so many comments from friends on Facebook who've spotted and recognized Buzz, it's almost like being there on the ride! I figure about 700 cars in the photo they took in Detroit - just amazing!
My Facebook page has been blowing up with Buzz sightings now that the KC group as joined MTTS, but they're all still having a blast and the weather has been cooperating nicely, with todays temps in the low 70's as they drive across the flat boring plains of western Minnesota on their way to Sioux Falls....today's obligatory Buzz pics - My friends taking a pic of the MTTS crew taking pics of Buzz  A long boring stretch of western Minnesota.... At the state line..... I hate to jinx it for Justin, but I'm encouraged by the fact that there hasn't been one pic of Buzz with the hood up!
Guess where MTTS is today? This may be the end of the tour for Buzz, unless he's changed his mind he'll be heading back home to Texas now, on the way he'll be driving thru the same sort of temps that my friend Willie B did on his trip to MMW in Abbotsford from Atlanta last summer.....but he doesn't have a "cool seat". Hope he does OK. Hope Buzz does too, but he said on the hottest days he only saw 190* temps with the aux cooler open so I think he'll be OK.
Montana! Just like the Energizer bunny........still going! Now that I look at the MTTS map, I figure he'll do at least one more stop with the tour, in Cheyenne Wyoming, since it's "on the way"....
Glad to see Buzz is doing great on this big rally! As for the Countryman in the OP video, that's Kyle's car but I think he was in the other Countryman that you see on the bottom racing. Kyle was also the one that went flat out on several of the legs in 2014, but is a bit of a prized child in the MINI world unfortunately. Worked at Prestige MINI up in CT, which meant he's got a whole bunch of MINI USA connections. And yes it did ruin it for everyone else because at Richmond the next morning, someone in a convertible or roadster tried doing the same thing, and there's a video up on the office FB page where you hear the driver getting a nice ass chewing for it.
