I like Mini of the Month and Nathan and I have discussed this a number of times in the past.
I'm a worst case scenario type re planning (some call us pessimists, though it's not the same since you can be very much an optimist and yet a good devil's advocate) and the one theme I think I've been very consistent about is participation rate. Each time we've restarted this there were more cars to choose from plus more active site participants to push it along so we've had hope. But each time interest, primarily in the form of nominee participation, began to wane after a couple/few months.
I really like the change in focus and it might help things along as well because of the more related competitive categories. Still think monthly might be a bit too often though. Feels more like a quarterly or at least every other month thing to me, maybe with different categorization or with some of those categories combined so we still rotate through them all annually.

Another thought:
Have the Mini competition every other month, with the criteria in Nate's first post. That way whomever wins gets the banner for a bit longer, makes it more meaningful. That's six cars a year.
Also, every other month, Nate could pick the Dos Equis Mini--the world's most interesting Mini. The criteria would be broad--in fact, so broad as to be non-existent. Maybe the red bull Mini, or a twin charged mini, a moke, whatever. It could be a car from a member, or from anywhere else in the world, any year, any model, we could highlight that for the months in between the competition months. Another 6 cars a year.-

Or have the generation contest and at the end of the year have an all-stars contest where all the winners of the year compete.
Maybe even start it off with all the past winners.-

Idea here...
Its a forum... With multiple sub cultures making one. Why not have a 1st gen, 2nd gen, 3rd gen (unfortunately they are coming), and a classic of the month, then take the 4 winners, and have an election based on total votes in their category for an overall winner?
Just my thought.-

N2MINI MINI of the Month
Sounds like each month would be for a different model.. sounds good in theory but depending on participation there may be some months with only 2 or 3 cars in the running. Which is fine I guess not as many cars to beat... Nathan will know from the last time how many entries he was getting each month.

Now that there is more than just 1st Gens to look at, this may indeed thrive.

To avoid any personality conflicts like before, I'd suggest just a voting thread. Don't give anyone the chance for the conversation to get out of hand. Post the pics and let the votes roll in. Unfortunately, the voting did get a little light.

Sounds OK, do it! I like starting with Classics, credit for starting a good thing we all enjoy.

Instead of making it a voting/popularity contest/poll why not just have the mods select a deserving car from the garages each month.
