I was in the same boat as you about a year ago. I didn't want to pay $$ for something that looked easy to make. But I realized that the brackets needed to be over enforced due to being hit with 35-50+ mph wind. If you use l brackets that are not strong enough they will brake and cause damage to your car. Plus how are you going to secure it. If you start using more pieces to the bracket then it becomes weak at the meeting points it alot that goes into making something like that. I respect you for trying to take this on just keep in mind all the unknowns and what will they cause. Fially which is more valuable your time or $ ?
I went with the vip light bar that goes in between the bonnet and the bumper great design btw but now switching to the out motoring brackets for the bottom grill bc I like to location of the lights there.

my main concern is airflow as someone previously mentioned. Having a second gen S, I want the intercooler AND radiator to get as much air as they can. So either 2 lights, on either end of the top grill for minimal blockage, or a row that would have to be in between the grills for minimal blockage.
I'm sorry to have offended any vendors or friends of vendors by saying I might take on a project rather than a financial burden.
I didn't mean it that way until CHK came in to act like I'm the scum of the earth for not stroking OutMotoring off. I genuinely have NO issue with them or any other retailer out there, and will actually be buying one of their products soon. He actually acted offended that I wanted to build something that they sell. He has a very stuck up attitude about stuff and got me a little heated about it.... but I'm new, he's a paying member with a high post count, so he matters and I have to deal with it, right? I mean this is the second thread I've posted in where I've gotten that exact impression of how things work here.
Ah! CHK is a good guy; he likes to say abrupt comments for effect. He means well. One thing I found out from him was that Aaron at outmotoring (before moving to a different state) used to visit the Mid-Ohio Motoring club during the monthly meetings and so there is a little bit of a devotion to him. Also, Aaron is really helpful anytime you need something he will do his best to help.
One other thing; a lot of us run in the same car club so familiarity with the person making the comment is assumed when reading.... Nathan is also one of us so that is why. However, in the voting thread there were two or three other culprits and other people know that so no worries.

I would like to see someone come out with a couple bars showing numerous positions for the lights so we could get a feel for how they look. Or just one bar that is adjustable and can move different ways.
Isn't there an adjustable bar offered by OM? Again, I'm looking to save money and have fun doing a project, but I remember seeing a $4-500 kit that included a bracket that mounted the lights in 3-4 different configurations. I might be thinking of someone else, but I'm pretty sure it was OM.
As for myself, I weld and have a bit of ingenuity. If it came to machining things, I would have to bring ideas and such to the machine shop at work and see if someone could do it in their off time.
